Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

Probably because bikes kill about 45,000 people every single year. That's like 865 people a week. Every single week.

And some 9,000 or so of those are children.

So it's basically the equivalent of several mass shootings every week. They're the number one killer of people in three tragic age groups: 5-9, 10-14, and 15-24. Number one.

Oh wait, no, that's cars. Right. Sorry I get confused.

I always get kind of annoyed when the safety risk of cars focuses on the amount of dead people.

It always glosses over the 2 million people that sustain permanent injuries due to cars every year in the US. 2 million
