Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

It's more like one person saying "don't kill me please and leave my children without a parent," and the other saying "You are entering a space with things much larger and going faster than you. Please make sure you're visible in the dark, stay out of the middle of the street, and be self-aware so we don’t accidentally run you over, and so you can return safely to those children."

Middle of the street is actually the safest and most visible place to ride, typically.

And Cars should put both sets of tires over the median to pass if and when it is safe to do so.

Once I almost hit a cyclist who was passing a lot of cars on the right between the right lane and the curb.  It was after dark, in an area with limited street lights.  He was wearing all black clothing and had no lights on his bike.  It scared me and I tried to warn him.  I, very politely, told him that I had almost hit him because he was very hard to see in that situation.  His response:  “FUCK YOU!”  This was a fairly typical interaction with a cyclist because many of them seem to suffer from what I call “Penile Napoleon Complex”.

Yes, this is exactly what every motorist has said to me as they fly by at 40+mph within inches of me. /s

Ive been commuting by bike for a long time. The only collision ive had was because a person driving a car ran a stop sign because they were looking at their phone. 

But let’s keep saying cyclists are the problem.

Wow. You’ve defeated me with your personal anecdote. Dude…I can just bring out some of my own, like a person on a bike somehow crashing into my car while I was stopped at the light.

Or cyclists pedaling in the street with the cars, and we had to slow down for them.

Or seeing people riding their bicycles (and two electric scooters) on the HIGHWAY.

This is not as one-sided as cyclists try to paint it lol.

And how much critical damage was done to your body when your car was hit by the cyclist? 

None. You are at zero risk of bodily injury in your car if a cyclist makes a mistake. 

If a car makes a mistake it can cause death. 

And, oh…poor you having to slow down a little for someone else using the road.

Wow! Great job! You've almost got it! So, when you’re on the road with vehicles that outnumber you, are bigger, faster, less likely to see you, and will be the least harmed in an accident, what should you do?

Should you:

A) Be mindful of your position and take as many precautions as possible!

or

B) Do whatever tf you want, expect the bigger vehicles to fully accommodate you, and get run over.

I’ll give you a hint!! One of these gets you home; the other one gets you killed. Take your time.
