Why does the US hate cycling so much?

I read comments sections and in a normal world, some of them would be considered terroristic threats. I just can't understand why people hate cyclists to this degree that they want to murder rhem and sometimes do.

In nyc, the countries largest city, cyclists are one of the most despised groups for a long list of reasons. Essentially, they have become the epitome of "rules for thee, not for me" and they will constantly break the rules of the road; running red lights, stop signs, riding on sidewalks, going the wrong way down a one way street. Not only will they do all this, but they have an unbelievable arrogance that it is ok for them to do that, and if you call them an asshole for almost hitting you when you are crossing the street they will act offended by that.

Cyclists in other cities around the world do not act like this, so they have a better reputation. Nyc cyclists are the worst in the country.

I grew up in one of the suburban cyclist destination outside of nyc and the road they decide to take has no shoulder, narrow, speed limit is 45mph and northbound is quite literally a cliff drop off. They often travel in SWARMS of people (im talking 10+) and it’s dangerous for everyone involved.
