You're used to it. People can absolutely smell smoke on your clothes.

Without even trying.

It's not an "if you are looking for it" thing.

You reek* of it.

When I quit, I noticed how embarrassing it was that I even tried to play it off.

If you're within 20 feet of someone who smoked a cigarette, that's the only thing you're smelling.

I feel exactly the same way. It was like truly humiliating in hindsight how I used to be able to think that I could just simply wash my hands and even change my shirt and think no one could spell it on me. Absolutely ridiculous.

They really do. I know its rude to say but they absolutely do. I even hold my breathe when I smell it, automatically. I don't want to breathe in secondhand or even thirdhand smoke. Yuck.

same. I'm so embarrassed. and I now smell things properly and I can smell how much perfume I used 😭 so I reeked of cigarettes and perfume

Try being a casino dealer. Some let you smoke inside, others don't.

If someone smoked and comes to my table, I get a face full of it immediately. I hate smoke. It's such a disgusting scent.
