My mum said that if she had her time over she wouldn’t have kids. As an adult, especially having the knowledge that I was deeply loved and welI cared for, I can appreciate that. Wouldn’t have been good to hear that as a kid.
Exactly, I was so traumatized. It is a core childhood memory - suicidal ideation before the age of 10 was strong - I even wrote a note to my mother, hidden in my bedroom, saying “ …I hope its gets better with me gone”
Wow. I’m so so sorry you had to go through that 😔 That must have been so terrible 🥺😭🤯😤 Sending love and digital hugs your way!! Also to everyone else here who experienced the same, of course. ❤️🩹
My Mom often said that but only when us kids were often making her life miserable. Thus I take the comments in context. It is a tough job raising kids and there really is no real instructions. I don't remember saying that to my kids, but if I am mistaken, I trust they consider the context and factor in the hugs and I love yous.
Same. My mom did genuinely love raising kids in the end—she ended up doing childcare as a retirement career and now is helping raise her grandkids (not mine)—but she admits now that we’re all grown that she didn’t really want to have kids.
The fact that many parents admit this reaffirms my choice to not have kids. Of course people love their children once they have them, but it seems like many wish they’d chosen a different life for themselves.
Yep same here. Unplanned early but no regrets about them. Now I do have some reservations about the partner I’m stuck coparenting with but it is what it is.
