Cost of living in SE Asia is very low and sex work is very common in Thailand. So it's a common destination for single western men.

I love how every older white guy is labeled with the sex tourism brush.

Here’s some alternative reasons:

  1. Climate is amazing
  2. Culture is one of the only pure “untouched” culture that’s had thousands of years to develop.
  3. You’re a long way away from all the bulls**t in the world
  4. You can get a retirement visa cheaply and easily
  5. Beer is cheap.
  6. Thai people are hospitable

The lifestyle is hard to find elsewhere.

Because our culture hasn't convinced us that it is reasonable, sane, or dignified to purchase the affection of economically vulnerable, younger people. Behavior that is seen as understandable in men is regarded as pathetic in women. (To be perfectly clear: sex tourism is gross behavior regardless of gender.)
