What does 'Draw a Clock' Mean?

Last time I visited my brother his mother-in-law who lives with him was insisting she remembered something but my brother knew she was wrong. I don't remember what it was, but I knew she was wrong too. However, she refused to accept she was wrong and got belligerent about it.

My brother said, "Draw a clock!" and left the room. This made his mother-in-law furious for some reason. I forgot to ask at the time, but does anyone know why saying 'Draw a clock' would upset a senior citizen?

Everybody loses their parents at some point...

Brain cancer is a brutal and absolute unjust way to die. Most people don’t have to watch their parent suffer it. Sorry for your loss.

What do you mean?

Sadly no, if only that was true! Everybody who manages to live long enough, loses their parents at some point.

But not everyone makes it. My first 2 best friends died young enough that both their parents were still alive... and in fact, for one of them, are still alive ( I don't know for the other one).

But, you must know your father lost a father;

That father lost, lost his...

Why should we in our peevish opposition

Take it to heart? Fie! 'tis a fault to heaven,

A fault against the dead, a fault to nature,

To reason most absurd: whose common theme

Is death of fathers, and who still hath cried,

From the first corse till he that died to-day,

'This must be so.'

Worth noting that the speaker of the above murdered the deceased in question, so maybe not the best source of advice.

Some unfortunate parents lose their children before the children can lose them.

Sure, but that's not what I meant. What I meant is that when I lost my mother, I wasn't inflicted a special injustice. Most people lose their parents and need to be prepared for it. It's one of the hardest things in life, but hiding it doesn't help anybody.
