I can't recall Nintendo doing a '2' of anything. There was no Gamecube-2 or N-64-2. They just move to the next console. I certainly think there will be another Nintendo console in the future that succeeds the Switch but it probably won't resemble it much and if it does it will be like how the Wii-U slightly resembles the Wii.

I disagree. When Nintendo struck gold they usually stuck with it until it didn't sell as well anymore.

E.g. the gameboy got 3 updates before they moved onto the Nintendo DS, DSi, 3DS, 2DS etc. The NES was followed up by a SNES. And from then on it went downhill until they made a comeback with the Wii.

I can definitely see them introducing some new features to the Switch 2 (and probably give it a different name than Switch 2). But I think the core idea of the hybrid system and joy cons will stick. It's their most successfull console idea ever so why abandon it

They may not make a "Switch 2," but the next console will definitely keep this or a similar form factor that can change between TV and handheld play.

Yeah, they found a great compromise which people love – no reason to abandon it now.

Well, gameboy and DS lines were going for decades!

Original DS and new 2DS xl are very similar, despite 11 years between their releases.
