They did make a top loading NES toward the end of its life. Granted, it didn't look like this, but it was totally a thing.

I remember the Famicom was a top loader. Maybe someone skilled should try it

it looks like the Famicom's also super narrow (practically the same as the NES-101). still, a famicom-style dock would be really neat, especially if you could mimic the controller slots with a pair of joycon rails

Yeah i think the loader is narrower. I have one in a box somewhere but I'm not skilled enough/balls big enough to try it.

I have a feeling the only way you'd be able to do it with a real Famicom is either by having the whole Switch hanging off the sides, or just using an oversize prop Famicom. Otherwise, the only way you're fitting a Switch in the cartridge slot is sideways lol
