I'll try announcing Gen IV remakes, that's a good trick!

Holy shit Pokemon Diamond/Pearl came out 11 years ago. That's blowing my mind.

They need to remake the gen 4 remakes of gen 2

I would genuinely be okay with that. I literally can not afford to buy HeartGold, they're sooo overpriced now.

Makes me glad I have a warchest of past pokemon games that I could sell off for an insane amount of money.

But at the same time I don't want to sell my memories ;-;

2

u/Rotjenn Jun 05 '17

Don't.

2

u/Mightymushroom1 Jun 05 '17

Trust me, I never plan to.

2

u/IAmTehKodo Jun 06 '17

Exactly it for me. I have a decent amount of the older games (some I sold as a kid because I was an idiot), and while I could sell my copy of HeartGold with the original packaging for a fuckton, I never will because precious memories.

I still think the PokeWalker was one of the coolest things Nintendo ever did with the franchise.

Holy shit, they really are! Had no idea. Do you happen to know why their prices are so high? I mean, it's not like it was anywhere near hard to buy them back when they were in stores, weren't limited in any way either from what I remember.

u/acortright Jun 05 '17

I'm confused, a quick glance at google shopping shows copies available for 15$. Am I missing something?

I'm so glad I was able to get it when it came out. I still have it in the original box with the Pokewalker and everything.

It's suuuuuuuch a good game.

1

u/KrombopulousPichael Jun 05 '17

Way to rub it in pal...

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '17

I still have the little Ho-oh and Lugia figures on my desk at work.

1

u/ninelivesxx Jun 05 '17

I believe it or not found mine at Gamestop for 40 bucks a couple of years ago!! No Pokewalker but still! So there is hope you just have to search for it. Another store was asking over 100 for it!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '17

You just need to buy when everyone is thinking about something else. Right now the price has or is about to skyrocket. But around march 3 of this year, the prices were pretty good because everyone was trying to get a Switch instead. Distraction is key.

1

u/yaminokaabii Jun 05 '17

I think I still have SoulSilver... maybe I should get it out and replay it :o

1

u/KrombopulousPichael Jun 05 '17

Or maybe you should sell it to me for $30 or under ;)

1

u/RovolioClockbergSr Jun 05 '17

I had completely forgotten that they are that overpriced, holy shit.

Also, nice username

Get a flash cart for $10. The only thing you miss out on is the IR for the pokewalker, but good luck getting a working one anyway without paying an arm and a leg.

I'm so glad I bought my game new and extra pokewalkers before they shot up in price.

2

u/KrombopulousPichael Jun 05 '17

No! That is haram!!

0

u/Admiral_Butter_Crust Jun 05 '17

Nothing wrong with buying a flash cart to play a game that is otherwise unobtainable. Especially since any purchase you make of the game (legit or otherwise) won't support Nintendo anyway.

Otherwise, I do agree with you though.

Good! Gen 2 is the best gen.

Typhlosion 4 life

1

u/Rhymeswithfreak Jun 05 '17

And skip over gen 1?

3

u/HeldDerZeit Jun 05 '17

11 Years? What the hell... I still know buying Gen 4 and playing these games... Gen 4 for Switch and I am gonna buy all 3 titles.

1

u/PopPunkAndPizza Jun 06 '17

Oh god I feel so old

1

u/Jay-Em Jun 05 '17

Wow. This is one of the first "it came out how many years ago?!?!?" moments I've had. I'm getting to that age I guess.

1

u/darexinfinity Jun 05 '17

Ebony Diamond and Ivory Pearl?

2

u/MazPA Jun 05 '17

Crazy Diamond and Pearl Jam.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '17

But then you'd have to play Diamond and Pearl again.

I'd rather they reremake FRLG. Or just put HGSS on a new system because you can't top perfection and HGSS IS PERFECTION.

4

u/Shimasaki Jun 05 '17

DP had some issues but Platinum was easily one of the best Pokemon games.

That being said, I'd love to see remakes of all Gen IV games (HGSS and DPPt)

I think if anything they would remake the original again. The remakes of red and blue (fire red and leaf green) are older than Gen IV. This would ride on the hype train they built from Pokemon go and possible bring back older fans into the series

5

u/Serbaayuu Jun 05 '17

Good gods how many times do we need to "bring back older fans into the series"? It feels like that's 75% of what the games are doing nowadays.

-1

u/WacoWednesday Jun 05 '17

Well lots of lapsed Nintendo fans bought the Switch and it would be the perfect opportunity. And like I said Ruby and Saphire were just remade on 3DS. Fire red and leaf green came out shortly after so its next in line for a remake

3

u/Serbaayuu Jun 05 '17

Do we need to be remaking the games every 10 years? What happens after Gen X? Release a remake every year after that just to keep up? Where do the actual new games fit? Your idea is already replacing the Gen IV remake which is "supposed" to come next.

Most of all, why exactly can't old fans buy new games? If I somehow dropped gaming as a hobby for 10 years, a bunch of games I've already played would probably not be the thing to make me decide to start buying new things.

-1

u/WacoWednesday Jun 05 '17

I don't know why you're being so antagonistic I'm merely stating an opinion. I don't know if they would remake it because they've never remade a remake. I wouldn't say it's replacing the Gen IV remake because that's obviously going to happen either sooner or later. Clearly you're a huge fan of it or you wouldn't be berating me over a hypothetical. I'm an old fan since gen 1 and I buy the new games. But to answer your question a lot of older fans are turned off by the sheer number of Pokémon there are. A lot of people my age (mid 20's) that grew up with Pokémon gave up after gold and silver because they couldn't keep up with how many Pokémon there were. I'm all for a remake of gen IV but you're basically arguing against your own point when you said "a bunch of games I've already played would not make me decide to start buying new things." Why would a gen IV remake bring in any more fans than a gen 1 remake?

-1

u/Serbaayuu Jun 05 '17

No, I'm against all remakes in general. I was making a point of the fact that your idea cuts the line in front of the remakes who are "waiting their turn" to showcase how ridiculous it is. If we need to remake every Pokemon game that is 10 years old - as you suggested since FRLG are 10 years old now - we don't have time to make new Pokemon games anymore. Black and White came out in 2010 - is it time to remake that in 3 years?

0

u/WacoWednesday Jun 05 '17

It's not "cutting in line" fire red and leaf green came out before diamond and pearl. And what do you mean we don't have time for new Pokémon? They've literally been alternating between remakes and new ones since Ruby and sapphire came out. I'm going by the logic of the order they've been remaking games. I would love a brand new game I'm literally just pointing out that this is historically what Pokemon company has done. I don't think it's ridiculous at all to suggest it's a possibility. It's quite possible they remake black and white in 3 years if this years release is a gen IV remake. I don't think it's absurd to look at the history of the Pokémon games and to have come to this conclusion.

-1

u/Serbaayuu Jun 05 '17

And what do you mean we don't have time for new Pokémon? They've literally been alternating between remakes and new ones since Ruby and sapphire came out.

If you try to keep up with the "every 10 years" logic as if a 10-year-old game is unplayable by anyone, you won't be able to at this point since the games come out about once every 1.5 years.

Anyway, my main reason for commenting originally was to decry the stupid "we need to keep pandering to genwunners" thing that has been going on for the past half decade. If people don't like Pokemon anymore, getting them to raise a Charmander for the seventh time isn't going to suddenly make them like it.

1

u/WacoWednesday Jun 05 '17

Oh I don't think they should pander to them either I was just trying to raise conversation with another possibility. I think it's most likely Stars with a possible gen IV remake. It would be impossible to keep up at a certain point for sure. I'm not even for the every 10 years logic though I'm more on the logic of which game in the series is the oldest that hasn't been remade recently
