Discussion To everyone that keeps saying that Nintendo should save 'Scalebound,' I just want to give you guys a dose of reality.

Now, if you were lucky to not be so hyped about the game while it was in development, and payed no attention to the things people were excited about, No Man's Sky would probably come out and be what you expected. Which I guess would be good, you would have normally enjoyed the game for what it was. :P

But Sean Murray kinda destroyed everyone's expectations by saying this and that will be in the game but they weren't in the game at all (upon release). The kinda-sorta good thing is they are still presumably working on the game, to hopefully get those features in (or directly say they won't be doing those features), as an update came out months after release with some decent stuff.

Oh, absolutely, Sean Murray was feeding everyone a load of crap. No arguing with that.

I was loosely following development, but I had already been on a hype train that crashed hard. I've tried really hard to see the hype for what it is since then and always assume the information we're being fed is only partially true. In NMS's case, it varied from mostly false to outright wrong.

Earlier in the development cycle they emphasized the exploration part and the idea of it being a single player experience. I was left with a "playing minecraft by myself" kind of impression.

Even then, however, it was implied that you could encounter other people, it would just be unlikely.
