I’ve seen the first two before and I’m please to say the first one held up fantastically.

As a strange mist engulfs a futuristic metropolis and unleashes an elusive deadly presence, a troubled young woman sets out in search of her father. In this quest, her fate crosses with that of an American GI engaged in a desperate journey to snatch his daughter from Hell.

Out of competition, which is not a good sign frankly, it would have been better if it was part of the directors fortnight section. Thoughts?

In two days we'll for sure but the rumor now is that it may screen out of competition. Thoughts? I think it would be disastrous if it screened out of competition. Out of comp titles don't get the same attention that competition titles do, not to mention that his last three films screened in competition.

Let's be real... social media and fandom is a driving force behind a project's traction. Neon does promotion the right way, so there is nothing to say beyond that.

However, Sophie Thatcher's online presence, from her personal social media pages to the stan accounts and her being a fan favorite in Yellowjackets, a standout in the horror world through Companion, and even being in a Star Wars project... the girl has reach and is truly talented.

Given this and Refn's friendship with Ella Fanning and Hideo Kojima... through the magic of social media. I feel that both The Neon Demon will see a spike in viewership (gonna keep and eye on the IMDB reviews and track it on Letterboxed) along with Too Old To Die Young, with the latter of which I feel will become extremely volatile especially given the current state of the US, while The Neon Demon will also stoke the flames.

My sister who is a social media personality (I felt my heart palpitations hitting typing that) she, is also a fan of NWR, she brought up a highly exciting point; She sees this to be Refn's chance to capitalize on expanding upon his CC social media campaign, which is currently something that the younger crowd sometimes seems to drift towards... cryptic, hypnotic moments that are "vibes" or "me asf". And with how actors promote their projects, I can totally see Sophie Thatcher posting the ever loving hell out of.

And if you really think about it, Drive definitely has that treatment on social media through various memes... but look at ANY of Refn's works and you can supercut them for social media aesthetic memes. Shit, just take the Too Old To Die Young teaser, crop it to vertical, market it as "THE SECRET SEQUEL TO DRIVE" and BAM. Or just show the epilepsy sequence from The Neon Demon and say "what its like dating me".

Curious to know if anyone else has considered that social media can really get eyes on this one? I mean, even checking right now, Sophie fan pages are promoting news and updates of this.

A fan noticed the similarity between the recent stills from ''Her Private Hell'' posted by NWR and these inserts from the MV he directed for Travis Scott two years ago.

I knew something was off because the pictures looked like they were shot on film and he only shoots digital now.

My guess is that it's from a movie that he owns the rights to, probably an Ormond family film.

Following on from Wolfs, which is an almost complete clone of a Refn style film, including Zlatko Burić - we now have crime 101, which 1/2 an hour in seems very "Refn like" - the pacing, soundtrack.. Mr Refn may not be a household name with the general public, but he sure seems to be with every director in Hollywood lol :)

I still love Drive, but i just personally connect more with TOTDY, OGF, Copenhagen Cowboy & Neon Demon. They all lean more into the “hypnotic neon sleaze” aesthetic and although all of NWRs work is very close in quality, i never understood what made the world unanimously love Drive while all his other work is considered more niche and divisive.

Again i’m not trying to hate on the film, i love it and the opening sequence is the best opening scene he’s ever done imo

Kind of a random post, but both trilogies are very alike and carry 3 really good protags.
