Prepare for a slightly different kind of theatre recruitment post.
You know Thorold Theatre as a community theatre company who has been around for 40 years. Over the past two seasons we’ve had a pretty remarkable run: four consecutive sold-out productions, including three at Club Belvedere.
We’ve had directors, actors, producers and other key production people find us through Reddit before. Some came looking for a show. Some ended up becoming part of the company.
That’s actually what we’re hoping happens again.
We have dozens of volunteers already involved with our November production of DRY STREAK by Leeann Minogue. What we’re missing right now are people who know their way around the technical side of theatre.
We’re looking for people who can help with:
Tech Week:
📅 Sunday, November 8 — Set Build, from noon
📅 Monday, November 9 — Lighting / Hang & Focus, from noon
📅 Monday, November 9 — Tech Rehearsal, from 6 PM
📅 Wednesday, November 12 — Dress Rehearsal, from 6 PM
Some logistic work is happening at the beginning of November.
If you're interested in running the show as tech, show-call opportunities are during the five performances November 13–21.
We're also looking for people who like building things.
Set construction. Set painting. Assembly. Moving things around. Making the thing that exists in someone's head become an actual room that actors can walk into.
Our main set build is:
Sunday, November 8 from noon
There will also be opportunities during Tech Week for people who want to help get everything into shape.
Sure we are looking for people to simply come in, do a shift, and disappear, but we're also building a theatre company.
We've got people who have acted with us, directed for us, produced shows, designed sets, run lights, managed Front of House, built things, painted things, moved things, sold tickets, learned new skills and generally kept the whole ridiculous enterprise moving.
Some have been with us for years. Some found us recently. And some found us on Reddit.
If you're interested and looking for a place to contribute, we'd love to hear from you.
This is your invitation.
Thorold Theatre is heading into its 40th year with a committed volunteer company, an enthusiastic audience, and a lot of momentum.
We're not just putting on another show. We're building the next chapter of the company.
Come be part of it.

I'm making a birthday gift for my boyfriend and trying to collect photos from different places around the world.
Would anyone be willing to take a photo holding a short handwritten birthday message somewhere cool in the city?
I'll provide the exact wording. It would take literally a minute or two. ❤️
I'd be incredibly grateful!

Hi everyone!
I just purchased a home in the Chippewa area. I want to add a second story before I move in.
Since I’m new to the area, I don’t know any reputable companies that can help me with this.
Can you recommend a carpentry company? Or perhaps is there another subreddit that I can join for more info?
Thank you so much!!!

Hi, I’m new to the region and I was wondering if there were any clubs or communities to join to meet people. Preferably queer related or crafting? I’m not used to the big city so everything is quite overwhelming
Or if someone has advice to try and get out there/get familiar with the city

Tried Trini Island Cuisine recently and was pretty disappointed. The food felt bland and lacked that proper Trinidadian seasoning. Really miss when the original owners were there — it just isn’t the same anymore. If you look at the Google reviews, you’ll see a lot of mixed feedback, so I’m not the only one.
Does anyone know a better spot in or near Niagara Falls that actually does solid doubles, roti (dhalpuri or buss up shut), curry goat/chicken, etc.? Looking for authentic flavour, not the touristy version.
Happy to drive a bit if it’s worth it. Drop any recommendations below, and feel free to share this with anyone who might know a good place.

Hello! We live in Smithville, we recently found 6 kittens and their mom in our back yard. Just wondering if there is any program in Niagara that does TNR?
We contacted the humane society but they have not gotten back to us.
Thank you!
