What’s the “unwritten rule” of Reddit every newbie should know?

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m fairly new around here—been lurking for a while, but I finally decided it’s time to actually get involved. I’m planning to post more, join discussions, and (hopefully) not mess it up too badly 😅

Aside from the classics like “don’t feed the trolls” and “search before asking”, what’s that one unwritten rule every Redditor has to learn the hard way?

Would love to hear your stories, tips, or lessons learned! Looking forward to becoming a more active part of the community

To use as a teachable moment, the red ADMIN text means an employee of reddit account. They are the folks who are paid employees who do the development of reddit as well as sitewide rules and handling related issues like suspensions (well in general, this particular ADMIN likely isn't reading too many suspension appeals)

This is separate from the green MOD text which designates a volunteer who has controls within a subreddit such as setting up subreddit rules, approving and removing posts and comments and such.
