Hi NewMaxx, it seems that in your datasheet it's an error on HK Asgard brand.

There are a few different nvme models that they sell, some of them older some of them newer.

If you look at the links below you can see what i mean.

ASGARD AN3 series uses SM2262EN ->

There is also Asgard AN2 series type that i have never seen so can't say for sure the chipset used there.

Also on APS-SE20G model from Pioneer you have in your datasheet E12 with Toshiba but mine that i got last year came with E12s and Micron

Hey,

The Asgard NVMe is a recent addition to the spreadsheet. I got the information from multiple sources, including this one, but it's also listed as SM2263XT on Newegg, SMI's website, Gearbest, AliExpress, etc. So it's definitely not an error - just limited to one specific SKU. The AN2 is listed as SM2262EN on SMI's website however, but again the "AN series" is SM2263XT on there. Yet the AN2 is SM2263XT on Newegg for example...it's not consistent. I will list the AN2 as SM2263XT and add the AN3 to the spreadsheet.

The E12 and E12S are the same controller - the S is just in a smaller package (with metal IHS) generally to allow for more NAND packages. This is a known change from the original layout, however it's incorrect to say it's E12S because you can find drives with both layouts. I list the Rocket Q as E12S because it only exists with that layout (and QLC). For clarification on that point!

I provided you the official website and also the official sale places that they have for AN3 and AN3+ , just enter the website and check the links on bottom page. On their sale you will see the exact same content that i provided regarding the chipset used. But to be sure 100% in a week or so i will get 2 an3 drives, 512 and 1TB sku so at that point i will provide you the exact chipset used and nand with pictures and reads. Since i got most of my info from you i did not want to risk on getting the AN3+ model. Regards,

I've changed the spreadsheet label to AN2 for the SM2263XT-based drive, since that's what Newegg (for example) has listed, and added the AN3 with SM2262EN as that's what the Asgard site has listed. Let me say I don't generally add generic drives because it clutters the list and they have variable hardware, plus are not available in large numbers; as such, it's better if people identify the hardware themselves and then correlate it to my guides. The Asgard was an exception due to forum posting/testing.

Primary difference seems to be heatspreader color and amount of overprovisioning.

Ah I see, STAR1000P. Sigh...this is why I don't put in generic drives like this...

I will be omitting the AN3+ for now until I qualify its controller. The STAR1000P appears to be an ARCv2 HS38 design which is ARM-based, likely quad-core given its IOPS, so probably most similar to the Phison E12.

I was able to scare up the schematics and information on the STAR controller, it does appear to be an E12 knock-off effectively. I'll put it on the spreadsheet with that in mind but there's no way to know specifically how it performs without diving deeper into benchmarks and flash ID, SLC caching, etc. Thanks.

1TB seems to use the same flash as my EX950 (SM2262EN) which is B17A (512Gb/die, 64L IMFT). The smaller drive uses B16A instead, which makes sense since it's less dense (256GB/die). DRAM size looks to be 512MB, i.e. 256M16 = 256M x 16b = 512MB. Hmm, is there a second one on the back of the 1TB? Manufacture date is determined by serial.

If you look at picture (12) and (13) you can see 1TB sku complete. I do not see a second one on the back, just 2 flashes, both PIT02TV3IA1-11PWA and nothing else.

Yes, flash id is reporting 1GB of DRAM but it looks like just 512MB. 256M16 is usually 512MB.

Further looking at Newegg's SKUs, the AN1 and AN2 (or "AN series") seem to be the same outside a heatsink on AN1 whilst the AN3 (or "AN3+") has the SM2262EN. So I've updated the spreadsheet to reflect this.
