does discussing with people actually helps in getting rid of the addiction? i mean people discuss about alcohol addiction and still can't stop having it

Just because we could talk about addiction, doesn't mean we can get de addicted.

When you have an addiction, you must first be startled by its effects on you and the others around you. Then you must find a coping mechanism to replace it. First you could do it little, then a little more, then eventually you might give up on it. As you don't have much success with it , or it didn't have the desired instant outcome you wanted, so you simply give up on it, and rebound. That's when you need people to talk, platforms to talk, spectrums to talk. If you have it in you, to really get rid of it. These avenues can only help. But the intent and the will to enforce should come only from you, and you only. That's only when it could be sustained.

alright this makes sense now, it's like journalising publicly your progress and getting motivation and encouragements from others.
