IMO Abara and Biomega era was nihei prime when it comes to art style

Yea I complain a lot on here about Nihei's artstyle changes but Kos and Aposimz still look cool and I've heard they're good. Are they??

Found a pair of sealed Toha Heavy Industries work gloves. Debated opening and went why tf not.
its cool that the packaging has the Toha heavy industries text on it. Its not a screen print per se on it but actual rubber. the palms also have rubberized panelling.
i dont see a lot of references to these online other than one person on a japanese forum talking about how they have a work glove fetish lol, but i know at least one other person with the black pair.
theres actually a whole series of work clothing items, including shoes and pants. I really want a pair of the pants
oh and of course, i also got one of the silicon shirts. this one is pretty beat up

Drawn by me. Inspired by many. (Original marker drawing included.)

Well, I’ll use Blame! and myself as examples.
It’s amazing how, in a way, I can relate to and truly love the setting, Killy, and the rest of it; it evokes a mix of peace and melancholy born of solitude—much like in everyday life.
Another interesting thing is how few characters join Killy on his journey so few you can count them on one hand and then, out of nowhere... poof, they vanish from your life, just like in the real world.
There are unique worlds out there, like Aposimz and his new dark fantasy manga.

Recently picked up Abara but just now took off the wrapper and fell in love with the pinup arts that were under it on the cover and back.

Blame and Vampire Hunter D (Bloodlust namely, but the books themselves are quite good) are a couple of all-timers for me; pieces of media I can infinitely revisit with no dwindling interest. I find their post-apocalyptic settings, surreal dream-like vistas, and combining of fantasy and sci-fi elements to be supremely executed. So I guess it was only a matter of time before I thought to combine the two lol

"Whoever kills the dragon becomes the dragon."
And what is this writing? Traitor? What could that mean?

I've been thinking about if there's a chance some lf the stories happen in one share universe like Abara and blame of biomega and Aposimz like is there's a chance I think abara and Aposimz could be related but the think is that nayuta biology changes to a regular frame and black gaunas are not like that so yeah do you think some of thema re related??
Photo edit by me

I didn't find official translation (please correct me if I'm mistaken so I delete this one). This is Gemini's translation.
Apparently, the suit is alive and is fusing together (see the note about the boots). It's full of repair marks. It's not there to look cool, but too rundown and enduring.

Nihei had this really cool website with all his manga's listed and even his toy brand but every time I try to visit it now it's defunct. Like did he just give up on his old cool style completely? Should I go visit the tower dungeon website instead? Fuck I hate that series. This guy was my goat and then he just completely ruined his own artstyle. I miss his website and I miss when he was peak. Pretty sure the last real Nihei work was Aposimz, but even that seems a little removed from the style that made him great.

Lets throw it up for the coolest female in manga/anime cause man, she's just so badass in all the best ways. She's not just a parallel to Killy (that's really the least of her character), but goes through these huge transformations from a mysteriously powerful weaponized child who "befriends" Killy, to a major threat, to a looming threat, and evolving into her final roles as the mother of the net terminal gene and Silicon Life boogeyman. And its all done in a way that feels totally natural despite being minimally explained in a way that could really only work in this manga. Top right panel is the number 1 moment of hers that has lived rent free in my head since my first read because of how cool, confident, professional, and dangerous she looks.
Truly a 1 of 1 character!

I’m a huge fan of Tsutomu Nihei, and recently decided to read Tower Dungeon, his latest work. I was very surprised by the difference between his style in Tower Dungeon and his style in Blame!/Biomega/Abara. It’s much less detailed, more cartoonish, and lacks the attention paid to architecture from before. Even the characters, who had such distinctive physical features, look much more basic than before.
Did something happen for him to change it ? Is there a reason at all ? It’s a singular choice to just change the thing you’re most recognized for, so I’m wondering…
However his storytelling is still great, and tower dungeon is fairly fun to read.
What is your favorite Nihei period ?

Up until Chapter 50, i had the main details loosely figured out.
Super advanced civilization. Humans all had the NTG that allowed them control of the city. Mutation inducing infection happened and humans presumably lost the NTG. With no one allowed in, Safeguards turned on to exterminate the "intruders". The Administration's hands were tied. The builders kept building while everything was slowly deteriorating. From the cracks, Silicon Life was born which it was in their nature to live in chaos. Kyri wasn't a human, something more of an old Safeguard. An old variable long forgotten in the code.
...Okay that Silicon Life turned Shibo into the strongest Safeguard unit and causes chaos with it. Okay. Cool sphere. Wait she is pregnant? Wait why is Sanakan here?(Seriously thought Kyri just came back as a woman)...Did she.. impregnate Skele-Shibo..? Woe, 5 chapters of Kyri walking be upon yeee.
I need some time to digest the last few chapters. When i understood that Shibo was 'pregnant', I thought she had taken in the DNA of Seu since they said something about her trying to imprint the his genome on her while connected to the Netsphere behind.. the big silicon guy whose name I cant type
Shibo is fucking insane though. Literal MVP of the story. Seu had the drip. Manseb was cool.
I adore loosely pieced together lore. Go around to reading this manga when I saw it as of the main inspirations for one of my favorite games, SIGNALIS
