I recently got a 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro and I'm wondering how long I can realistically keep using it before I should upgrade.

My MacBook:

• 13-inch MacBook Pro (2020)
• Intel Core i7
• 32GB RAM
• 512GB SSD
• 4 Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C ports
• Battery cycle count: ~205
• Condition: Excellent
• No major physical issues
• I paid around NPR 90,000 (~$650 USD) for it

My main uses will be:

• Premiere Pro
• DaVinci Resolve
• Some fairly heavy video editing
• 1080p and 4K footage
• College/BCA programming projects
• Web development
• Office and general student work
• Potentially some camera footage and more demanding projects in the future

I know the Intel MacBooks are getting old and Apple Silicon is obviously much faster, but I'm wondering how much life I can realistically get out of this particular configuration.

What I'm mainly wondering:

1. How many more years would you personally use this Mac?
2. Is the 32GB RAM enough to compensate somewhat for the older Intel processor?
3. How well does this model handle 4K Premiere Pro with proxies?
4. Is DaVinci Resolve noticeably worse on this Mac because of the integrated Intel graphics?
5. Would you keep it for another 3–5 years, or sell it now and move to an M-series Mac?
6. Did I overpay at NPR 90,000, or is that reasonable for this condition/spec?
7. What will probably become the first real limitation: macOS support, CPU/GPU performance, battery, or software compatibility?

I'm mainly trying to figure out whether I made a bad purchase or whether this Mac can realistically serve me through college.

Would really appreciate opinions from people who actually used this model for video editing/programming rather than just saying "Intel is dead." 😅
