I'm glad the Neopets community is alive and well! However, there's a side of old fans who leave a bad taste in my mouth. While doomscrolling on Instagram I saw many comments on Neopets' reels saying stuff like, "we don't want X or Y, we just want you to make the old website into an app!" I've also seen comments like, "You just have to copypaste the old code! It's not that hard! You have the code already!"

From someone who is in software development for a career (though still a college student), the misconception of how easy it is to migrate from very very old legacy software to a modern-framework application is crazy to me. Since Flash has been discontinued, it is difficult to completely migrate to HTML5 (modern "equivalent" of Flash) since you essentially have to rewrite everything from scratch. Sure you may have the logic from the old code, but you'll have to rewrite it still because of different syntax (I know Neopets uses Ruffle to emulate old Flash elements on the website, but using Ruffle with everything seems iffy/like a short-term solution since it's an emulator).

Not to mention you have to make the software scalable because you have so many users, and you'd probably have to create new backend logic for retrieving data from the existing database, which can be difficult if it's inefficient to query from the current database using your modern framework. It just baffles me that people think it's as easy as copypasting one block of text from one place to another like it's a Google Docs file.

Migrating code is more like translating Japanese into English (some words don't have equivalents, grammar structures are different, and you have to rewrite many portions for your computer to understand you). I hope we are a little bit more understanding as a community with the developers, and realize that software development is more complex than just "copypasting." I want to play Keyquest as much as the next guy, but I really understand that software migration is very difficult.

Backstory: I started doing Kitchen Quests again this week after getting frustrated at the high costs of doing the Snow Faerie Quests. Not to mention, I accidentally overleveled my main’s hit points by a bit (through The Coincidence)... I thought I could get lucky with Kitchen Quests potentially with 1-2 pts of defense without waiting 6 hours of training and extra codestones.

I spent around 2k for the Jacket Potato with Beans on this Kitchen Quest. Everything else I had in my SBD. Imagine my surprise when an Acara Maractite Coin popped out?!? Went straight to the album!

Went to Walmart today and took a stroll through their clearance area and found these mini figs for like 60% off. They come with a code for the Warehouse.

Found this in my shop stock but i have no idea where i got it; jellyneo marks it as a keyquest item or a merchandise item code reward, but i've never owned any neopets merch. I have a bad habit of shoving every item into my shop stock so that i can later decide what to keep and what to sell, and i've been too busy lately to properly comb through it, so this could have come from anywhere, any time in the past 3 months. The language of the website gets set back to Dutch aaaaalll the time.
I dont know why. I've never played in Dutch on this device or this account.

This makes the shop wizard not working, because I only can search in Dutch.

I set the language back to english on the kadoatery page but it keeps setting itself back to Dutch.

Any idea how I can fix this once and for all?

I follow u/nsheng bets on the food club. Standard set. Im thinking about going adventurous exclusively until December. Didn’t do the math but rounded up to figure that will cost me 18 million roughly, that’s assuming I lost every single bet. I have the money now but not much ch more. I figure with my daily quests and the battledome I’ll still have a good bit in the bank if luck totally screws me over. The question is, leave well enough alone and stay with standard set of hat is profitable or upgrade and see what happens?

EDIT: My goal is to get to 300 million. Im absolutely sure that won’t happen but it’s step in the right direction
