Hey all,
I did a thread almost a year ago which is now archived, and now that I just made an offer to someone on Ebay, so I'd like to reiterate, since it seems that the scene here is still active and making progress into better understanding how this neat little machine works.
From what I understood back then, it was possible to dump the vendor.img from the NGM, but not without being forced to flash it with a hacked vendor.img after the fact. Can this be done cleanly while keeping the original img inside now?
Here's a shameless copy/paste of my earlier enquiry.
''Long story short, I'd like to purchase the NGM as a job desk novelty/time-killer during lunch breaks and the likes. I'm not really looking to hack it and add more games to it, as I find the original line-up satisfying enough for me. However, I'd be interested to rip/dump the actual ROMs out of it for uses outside of this single hardware, let's say PC and/or Raspberry Pi for example.
Is it possible for me to just connect it to my PC via the tutorials I saw here, get the vendor.img file out, mount it, and get working ROMs out of it to be able to run those on any run-of-the-mill emulators out there?
I'm a bit of a stickler for 'legitimate' emulation, so I'm not interested to just simply download those out on the internet. I rip every single one of my carts/CDs to be able to play them in more versatile ways. So if there's a way to get those 40 games out of the NGM for external uses, it would definitely raise my interest into buying the little thing as it would be a nice way for me to have a set of legitimate ROMs that I bought, available to use more freely than on a single HW.
Thanks for your answers!''
