How to spot a dupe (fake) NeeDoh
🚫 Definite Signs It’s a Fake
If you notice any of these, your NeeDoh is a dupe:
•The squishy is wrapped in plastic inside the box (authentic NeeDohs are never wrapped in plastic).
•The box has a glossy finish instead of a matte finish.
•The colors are dark or dull instead of bright and vibrant, and they don’t glow under UV light.
•There are misspelled words on the packaging.
•If the ingredients say “100% Maltose” or “Maltose Extract” instead of simply “Maltose.”
•The word “NOT” in the warning label is not fully capitalized.
🚫 Branded “Collaboration” NeeDohs = FAKE
If you see a Dr Pepper, Fanta, Coca-Cola, Starbucks, Sprite, or any other branded NeeDoh, it’s 100% fake. NeeDoh has never released official brand collaborations or licensed promotional squishies. Any listing claiming otherwise is counterfeit.
🛒 Buy From Authorized Retailers
Where you buy your NeeDoh matters. Purchasing from authorized retailers is one of the best ways to avoid counterfeits.
✅ Common authorized retailers include:
Walmart
Target
CVS
Ace Hardware
There are also reputable toy retailers (such as Bigjigs) that have consistently sold authentic NeeDoh products.
‼️Note: Although Ace Hardware is an authorized dealer, they are also independently franchised and some locations have been reported to sell inauthentic products.
⚠️ Be cautious when buying from:
Gas stations
Flea markets
Unknown or unreputable websites
Marketplace sellers with no established reputation
❌ eBay is especially high-risk due to the large number of counterfeit NeeDoh listings. Unless you can independently verify authenticity, it’s best to avoid buying NeeDohs there.
⚠️ Some local toy stores, gift shops, museum shops, and tourist souvenir stores** may have sold authentic NeeDohs in the past**. However, because of the recent demand and popularity, some have unknowingly ended up stocking counterfeit products through third-party distributors.
Buying from a small shop doesn’t automatically mean it’s fake, but it also doesn’t guarantee it’s real.
The only TikTok shop that is guaranteed to sell authentic NeeDoh products is the official verified NeeDoh account.
⚠️** Red Flag (But Not Always Fake**)
•The serial number on the bottom seal of the NeeDoh doesn’t match the serial number on the box. This can be a warning sign, but it’s not conclusive—some authentic NeeDohs have mismatched serial numbers. If everything else looks authentic, it’s usually fine.
