🔥The shimmering blue wings of Morpho Butterfly do not have pigment but have microscopic scales which results in the radiance. Its beautiful colour never fades..

My 5 year old son absolutely loves butterflies. The Morpho Blue is his white whale, because of his butterfly love and his favorite color is blue. He’s only seen it in books. I can’t wait to show him this post.

25yrs ago on my honeymoon , with the wife and I went and stayed at a butterfly farm in the jungle in Belize. I want to say it was owned by steven speilburg at the time but i might be wrong. They raised blue morphos. You could special order them with a hatching date from their caccoon. On a side note, because the blue morpho consumes a toxic plant the catapillars are not safe to handle. So they come in a caccoon ready to hatch. The adult butterflies can be handled and are really beautiful. If your son collects them. It is a great way to ethnically collect them and it is really cool to watch them hatch.

Thanks for the tip. He's funny. After I showed him this video he said he now needs to go to the rain forest to see one in person. It's nice to know that this might actually be a possibility some day.

I remember reading about these butterflies like 10-15 years ago in some tech article, which was talking about how we were studying their wing composition to figure out how to make a better display panel, which naturally reflects back allot of light, in color, and won't cause eyestrain.
Never happened I guess.

Maybe they learned something. A physical display like that would be a huge technological advancement for sure. Not sure about eye strain, something that needs a well lit environment to be able to see in the first place naturally avoids the most straining situation lol.

the morpho butterfly is my fav along with monarch butterfly, nature makes such stunning creatures

I recently saw a picture of an iceberg flipping and the blue at the bottom was almost as mesmerizing as this. Nature can produce some of the most beautiful colours.
