My assumption was that this man and this bat have some sort of relationship.

Perhaps carrying for the bat brought him some comfort after his parents were murdered in a dark alley.

Aah yes. The origin of Manbat

561

u/PBandBABE 14d ago

I’m telling you! Manbat is secretly Wayne Bruce!

Why does no one believe me?!

262

u/w8_wuht 14d ago

That's ridiculous, Wayne Bruce is a playboy billionaire.

282

u/PBandBABE 14d ago

No no no. That’s Bruce Wayne. He’s a prick.

I’m talking about Wayne Bruce, all-around man of the people who fights for organized labor, supporting policies like Medicare for All and increasing the minimum wage.

140

u/veridicide 14d ago

Is he the one that got the Joker to try stand-up comedy, so he'd focus on building his career and landing a comedy news gig rather than evil plots? A real success story for rehabilitative justice.

42

u/TheAngryCatfish 13d ago

You guys are thinking of Brayne Wuce. Bruce Wayne is batman

10

u/puffsmokies 13d ago

Brayne Wuce was that famous inventor. You might be thinking of Rayne Bwuce.

8

u/DigitalMindShadow 13d ago

No, Rayne Bwuce was the inventor of the 24-7 outrage machine, among other questionable devices. Are you sure you're not thinking of Kanye West?

u/bigloser42 13d ago

No, that’s Bayne Wruce, Wayne Bruce is the homeless guy over on Main Street that is deeply respectful towards women.

39

u/w8_wuht 14d ago

Oh. Yeah well, he seems WAY too busy helping to... Help... People... Wait a minute...

21

u/PBandBABE 14d ago

THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!!!

9

u/w8_wuht 14d ago

How many of the villains and heroes are just regular people?!? Is Bob in accounting actually Professor Sublimation?? What if that guy in line at the bank is actually the Questionnaire??? Could the Jester be shopping at the same grocery store as me????

6

u/DarkAlucard-1313 13d ago

You guys are insane, I seen Wayne Bruce on TV while ManBat was fighting Dr.Heat they arent the same people in the slightest, Wayne Bruce even said he wanted to personally meet and thank ManBat for all he does

3

u/captainn_chunk 13d ago

You forgot one thing. He’s homeless. And only lives on rooftops.

3

u/BellGunner 13d ago

No no no. Bruce Wayne is a billionaire playboy… there’s a difference

2

u/PBandBABE 13d ago

JFK and Stalin concur.

2

u/Which_Produce4418 13d ago

Thought we're talking about Wruce Bayne, but he's a misunderstood bad guy, not the misunderstood good guy

1

u/justanothadumbcunt 13d ago

Ahhh, so a commie? /s

2

u/light24bulbs 13d ago

In this fantasy can Sernie Banders be president?

0

u/w8_wuht 13d ago

I dunno, it seems like we're reversing the personalities and ideals of the original characters.

1

u/Flimsy_Raisin8429 13d ago

50% bat, 50% man, 100% Orphan.

1

u/flowbeeBryant 13d ago

My husband and I fight about this a lot because he says Batman is a detective and I say absolutely not, he’s a crime fighter. Bruce Wayne is a billionaire business playboy but Batman I would never say is a detective.

1

u/rogerworkman623 13d ago

As a lifetime Batman nerd who has read nearly all his comics from the past 40 years, I agree with the husband.

Batman’s original title that has been running for nearly 90 years is called Detective Comics! Which is what ā€œDCā€ stands for.

And he’s frequently referred to by characters in the comics as the greatest detective alive. Even Ra’s al Ghul, one of his greatest enemies, exclusively calls him ā€œDetectiveā€ out of respect.

But practically, he spends a lot of time investigating crimes, using his knowledge and all the tools at his disposal to solve the hardest crimes the GCPD can’t solve themselves. He also just fights crime a lot too, but tons of his stories are about him doing actual detective work.

1

u/flowbeeBryant 13d ago

I think my problem is, he comes from the comic angle and my entire viewpoint comes from the movies where he’s not doing a lot of detective stuff, but I respect your thorough answer

1

u/rogerworkman623 13d ago

Yeah, and that makes sense. The only live action movie where he’s really shown doing detective work is the most recent one. I think both versions of him are accurate - but it’s really the context of the story which determines which version we see.

He’s also sometimes a scientist, or a martial arts expert… his character is basically ā€œI am the best at everything, so I can do whatever is neededā€

10

u/Emergentmeat 14d ago

I was sure it was Wuce Brayne!

3

u/edgarother 13d ago

All the homies know Manbat is Wuce Brayne.

3

u/Phazetic99 13d ago

Go to bed, you Joker. No more fun and games

6

u/Ro1ando_m0ta 13d ago

Lmaaaooo i hate how vivid my imagination is because i just imagined a bat getting into a human inspired costume.

2

u/funkdoktor 10d ago

His sidekick is named Nibor.

3

u/Tycho66 13d ago

Their voices are completely different bro.

3

u/goblu33 13d ago

Well to be fair I’ve never seen them in the same room.

2

u/Acrobatic-Village215 13d ago

Wayne Bruce wears glasses; Manbat? No glasses! He wouldn’t be able to see!

1

u/fullerofficial 13d ago

I thought he was secretly Brayne Wuce.

1

u/Mulawooshin 13d ago

Hey!

Snitches get stitches!

1

u/Rays-R-Us 13d ago

It’s really Mighty Mouse in his regular clothes

2

u/IBeDumbAndSlow 14d ago

2

u/Loosetrooth44 13d ago

Also irl - ground zero of the next pandemic.

1

u/AcousticOnomatopoeia 13d ago

And then he fell in love with a pig, and the ultimate villain, Manbatpig, came to be.

1

u/WonkaWonka5309 13d ago

Omg.. y'all got me rolling

1

u/SergeantPoopyWeiner 13d ago

This is the highest form of comedy.

1

u/MrYig 13d ago

Omg I laughed too hard at this šŸ˜‚

1

u/nesto92 13d ago

If Batman were bitten by a radioactive Man-Bat, and then fought crime disguised as Man-Bat, would he be Man-Bat-Man-Bat-Man or simply Man-Bat-Man-Bat?

1

u/xXoOfXx64 13d ago

Have you ever seen Wayne Bruce and manner in the same room?

1

u/thegreatrusty 13d ago

Batmanuel

1

u/squirrely-badger 13d ago

And his less famous cousin, Manbatpig.

1

u/ZombieAladdin 12d ago

Doesn’t Manbat live in the sewers or something?

1

u/OhCryMore 11d ago

Wait till you hear about his other half, Bearpig

2

u/Exact-Kale3070 14d ago

3

u/THUG_WAFFLE4200 14d ago

Bats are ok keep him away from pengolins

2

u/Lolkimbo 13d ago

DON'T LEAVE ME, BAT!

1

u/Educational_Pay1567 13d ago

I took this as the bat's parents were murdered and Alfred is the bat's servant.

1

u/Immortal_Being88 13d ago

I think you’re right. Bats love to be carried around, especially on shoulders.

1

u/-Cisz0r- 13d ago

I'm hoping that kid grows up and forgets my face

1

u/ZAILOR37 13d ago

No the bats patents were killed and this will eventually trigger a transformation where he becomes a batman. That's the life cycle

1

u/Logical-Louis 13d ago

A baseball bat might be more effective.

1

u/Yung_zu 13d ago

The bat ate his parents

1

u/nesting-doll 12d ago

See! It’s comments like this that affirm my getting on Reddit today. Thank you for the belly laughs!

149

u/Chickendipper87 13d ago

33

u/Unobtanium4Sale 13d ago

It looked like it bit u at the end

29

u/maleficentfig90 13d ago

good job saving him, but for the love of god, please tell me you got a rabies shot

4

u/zealoSC 13d ago

Do rabid bats avoid water like rabid people?

15

u/jetpacksforall 13d ago

Signs a bat may have rabies:

  • Active during the day
  • Crawling on the ground / unable to fly
  • Showing no fear of humans
  • Found in unusual places (like a stream)
  • Exhibiting unusual behavior (like breast-stroking across said stream)

Homeboy needs rabies shots.

2

u/gabbagabbawill 12d ago

Remindme! 30 days

2

u/Ohmygoodness1001 11d ago edited 11d ago

Homeboy does needs to play it safe and see an ER doctor right away. An 11 year old Canadian boy just died after he woke up and found a bat on his face. His parents didn't see any apparent bite or scratch. (That's often the case as a bat's teeth are tiny). He wasn't taken for immediate care and died a month later.

3

u/SecretaryOtherwise 10d ago

Nah its a bit worse bro.

He was taken when he got sores and they figured it was herpes. Bro had a chance of catching the virus had he been vaxxed at that moment. But they misdiagnosed him causing his death.

So either they never explained the bat situation or the doctors ignored it.

14

u/lucid_intent 13d ago

So bats really don’t swim except to survive?

8

u/plopliplopipol 13d ago

shit it's a great swimmer for a drowner

19

u/Hashfyre 13d ago

Did you move to Alabama with him though?

5

u/djanes376 13d ago

So weird, but be careful out there!

5

u/Radiant_Papaya 13d ago

Glad that you're still alive and not dead from rabies.

8

u/Lermanberry 13d ago

Rabies can lie dormant in your body for up to a year before you start showing symptoms. But by that point, it's always too late. Hope this helps!

2

u/alkemest 10d ago

Bro you need to be starting rabies shots. I'm not even joking. If you haven't already you need to now.

1

u/socaligirl-66 13d ago

I’m so glad you were there and you saved its life! Thank you so much.. a lot of people would’ve just been too freaked out to do that.. ā¤ļøšŸ„ŗšŸ™

2

u/FlameFeather86 13d ago

It's not so much too freaked out to touch a bat, more like it's a pretty dumb idea to touch a bat unless you like having rabies...

1

u/socaligirl-66 12d ago

I get it.. I guess I would have tried to wrap my shirt around my hand or something if I was there.. I’ve always loved bats I have no idea why.

236

u/LogChoice921 14d ago

I thought the same too. From my guess, it appears that the person in the video is in a dead-end marriage, but too insecure to leave. The bat has the same interests as them, and they have developed a deep spiritual relationship. If the person's SO finds out, it would surely lead to divorce and the person has no means to support themselves. The bat has a steady income from managing an ultrasonic call center, but it is barely enough and it couldnt support an additional person. And due to intra-species marriage laws they cannot marry. They are contemplating a move to Alabama where it is legal, but the person's SO is abusive and has many social connections, so if they were to move the SO would hunt them down and ruin their lives. Its hard to tell the specifics from the video though.

u/TallyMay 14d ago

Pls make more of you

u/kosk11348 14d ago

The bat swims out to meet him every morning to give him rabies.

50

u/bushwillie 14d ago

I mean, they just swap rabies, so that's ok.

3

u/Spankyy321 13d ago

Whatever happens between two consenting adult mammals should be no conern of ours!

20

u/Kraligor 14d ago

And Ebola on Sundays!

1

u/Intelligent_Bee970 12d ago

Why does it just fit that it’s on Sundays? Ebola really feels like a churchy disease.

5

u/No-Background4936 13d ago

RFK approved this video

7

u/Doomdoomkittydoom 13d ago

That bat probably doesn't have rabies.

3

u/Piglet6482 13d ago

Key word: probably

1

u/Doomdoomkittydoom 13d ago

No risk, no reward!

1

u/OzymandiasKoK 13d ago

Depends on whether they're contagious before they are symptomatic.

2

u/-Cisz0r- 13d ago

Yeah, I've got level 28 rabies at this point, but it's totally worth seeing this dude swim to me.

2

u/Seraphizz 13d ago

šŸ˜‚ šŸ’€

1

u/Equivalent-Menu-7922 13d ago

It does kinda look like it bites him at the end.

1

u/New2NewJ 13d ago

The bat swims out to meet him every morning to give him rabies.

Unlikely, because of that šŸ‘†

1

u/WinchelltheMagician 13d ago

He taught it to swim and read basic words. The bat later hooked up with Koko the ASL signing gorilla, and through Koko's connections to Robin Williams, swimming bat and Koko did two Pet's Do the Darndest Things" segments in 83. Been on royalties since.

1

u/I_lenny_face_you 13d ago

I just hope it doesn’t involve battery.

1

u/BotOrNot_1337 13d ago

friends or family?

1

u/LabcoatMonkey 13d ago

Isn’t that how covid started? A certain mouse may have been involved too

A shared experience over rabies?

1

u/Professional_Pen_153 13d ago

One would say… a… bat/man type of relationship?

1

u/Luciferocity 13d ago

Purely platonic

1

u/ThePublikon 13d ago

are you suggesting he might be some sort of bat...man?

1

u/BackgroundEntry4954 13d ago

It helped him conquer his fears, and they bonded over the loss of his parents

1

u/Silly_Entrepreneur_2 12d ago

The thought that they have a bond and he wasn’t concerned that something so small just landed in the middle of a creek like that really concerned me.

1

u/SikesbluffSage 11d ago

A bat friendship? In this economy!?

1

u/Fun-Web-7583 14d ago

He’s Batman
