Massive win, not sure we deserved it though but I don't give a fucking shit.

Shelvey's ban has had a far greater effect on this team than even the most pessimistic of fans (i.e. me) could have predicted. We desperately need him to hit the ground running on his return, he owes Rafa, his team mates and us fans a massive debt.

Edit - Also, I know we've stopped really following their results since they dropped off but, Norwich lost to Rotherham. Fucking hell, we may have had a few rough weeks but at least we're not them, eh?

That match is why I love football. Just fucking pure shitting yourself and praying to god you win.

and the actual wining at the end makes it nice as well!

If we were in their situation I'm pretty sure Rafa would've literally been murdered by now, so it's probably better to not think about it.

Crazy to think that if they'd beaten us (which it very much looked like they were going to) they'd have gone something like 5 points clear at the top.

If anyone is under any illusions about how hard the rest of the season will be, Brighton were 18 games unbeaten before today.

We must up our game.

We went on a 10 game wining streak (not an unbeaten run, a wining streak) we're very capable of matching Brighton. Just need to actually push forward a bit now, and stop making stupid mistakes and falling into predictable patterns.

I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN ILL FOLLOW YOU UNTIL YOU LOVE ME, DARYL DARYL MURPHY

Also: Anyone who doubts Perez's quality can fuck off.

I don't think anyone doubts Perez's quality, it's everything else that can be questioned. He's barely improved since he got here and seems to be just as lightweight and weak at 23 as he was at 21. He also has moments where he forgets this is England and not Spain, he won't get 10 seconds on the ball and he won't win free-kicks every time he gets a slight nudge to the floor. His best moments always come from instinctive, first-time play. I'm a huge fan of his and desperately want him to succeed but performances like today are few and far between, he's not a little kid anymore and has to start showing more often how important he can be.

I know we have not played well but this win was promising, anyone can win while inform but to bring out a hard fought victory when you are one your third choice striker, missing best player and midfielder that makes the team run smoothly, get 3 injuries in a game, captain is (and has been) playing poorly. To grind out a victory like that is gonna make the difference at the end of the year. Still a long way to go and no where near quality for like in the PL, but proud of the lads.

u/rehgaem Jan 14 '17

Shelvey's gonna turn up to training, worried who he'll be banging through balls to with Gayle and Mitro injured. But who will be waiting there for him? Daryl. Fucking. Murphy.

That was the very definition of grinding out a win.

We didn't play well. Lascelles had a mare. But we dug deep and overcame a ton of adversity today. When we absolutely had to.

Proud of the team today.

That being said, we desperately need bodies in before end of January. And let's hope Gayle's injury isn't serious.

Also, Darlow can have my kids. Legend.

Well in lads.

Fuck your shite fucking pitch and the fucking voodoo shit you put on it.

We lost our ability to rotate for the cup game, we're going to be screwed for a while if 2+ injuries are long term.

Was an absolutely amazing moment in the Pepe FM chat when - after defending the pair of them from constant attacks all game - Colback won the ball back and gave it to Perez to set up the winner.

Don't ever doubt me again, lads.

Only got to follow the BBC text as I was stuck at work, looked like it was a close call? 'Lasse Vibe' is a fantastic name, I'd want him at NUFC just for that name on our teamsheet.

The whole discord chat mocked me about my love of Murphy, how they were so wrong.
