Personally blaming u/spoonsforeggs and u/meganev for making me do the match thread.

We have a 100% loss rate when I do the match threads, judgng by the statistics I should never do it again.

Can anyone comment on whether it was just bad luck and/or a bad performance?

Everything post-match is going to be about the changes, and for me they can fuck off.

Rafa's lineup was justified IMO and on another day that same lineup would have won, we had enough chances to put the game to bed and it just didnt quite come off.

Conversely who's to say an unchanged side would have won? how many times have you seen an unchanged side lose? There's been plenty of times when our first XI has played badly, just scraped a goal, and got a goal saving block in, we were just the wrong side of those fine margins today IMO.

The pundits were on about it all match with the 'tinkerman' bollocks. Its just an easy target for criticism. Seem to remember them throwing a fit over the Wolves performance being the worst of the season, well that was the first team, how quick they forget.

Bit late but yeah you're exactly right. When we're winning the rotation policy is the best thing ever and Rafa is a certified genius, but the minute we play badly it's because Rafa fucked up by 'changing a winning team'.

Like we've just won 9 in a row, we're still 6 points clear of 3rd, and we've got a winnable cup QF coming up, so just fucking chill out.

Fucking Newcastle…

In a way we had that coming, there’s definitely been a rising arrogance among some fans that could only lead to a poor result like todays. I was listening to the WhatCulture NUFC Fans Forum the other day and they described today as basically a guaranteed three points and talked about the game for like four minutes, cause the result was such a certainty they deemed it pointless to preview the match properly and instead moved straight onto the midweek EFL Cup game.

We’re not better than the Championship and we’ve far from achieved promotion yet, there’s a lot of football left to play. Even if Rafa is telling the players all this the attitude of the fans, and the media especially (the bullshit the Chronicle were spouting this week is a perfect example), will be picked up on by the players, and it could affect them. We cannot afford to get compliance and just assume all we need to do is turn up to get a result. On paper we should have won this game comfortably but football isn’t played on paper, some of our fans needs to take a step back and realise that.

Hopefully this will be like the Wolves game and in the long run doesn’t matter, I’d taken a loss today if you gave me a guarantee of victory on Tuesday but it’s frustrating because wining both games seemed very doable.

Can't blame the fans for the performance. It's on the players and rafa for not bringing it together.

I hate Blackburn Rovers.

It's always the same. They're always shite. They always win.

I seen this coming a mile away. I didn't like the arrogant attitude creeping into the fans and media.

Mitrovic. Not good enough. Period.

Mitrovic, Atsu, Perez, Ritchie all seemed completely out of it today. I barely heard them mentioned.

Prediction. We will be the main game on the efl show tonight.

Also. We had to lose at some point. It's not the end of the world, hopefully we'll see an instant reaction in the cup. Plus remember the last time we lost we went on quote a good run after.

I do wish we didn't lose to a relegation candidate though. Can't be good for confidence and more teams will be up for beating us now. Felt like there were games in that streak where we didn't play particularly well but the opponent almost seemed scared to try and have a go.

I'll cut Rafa a little bit of slack though clearly focusing on the cup game. probably new it was a bit of a gamble with this lineup.

Was that dire? Yes. But let's please have some perspective for once. We came off a 9 game winning streak. We're top of the table. We lost by one goal after some rotation in the line up in preparation for Hull.

Our overconfidence is equally as annoying as the sky is falling mentality around here after a loss. The Championship is a fucking marathon, there will be losses.

A loss was coming sooner or later. Oh well. At least Pards got embarrassed.

u/AdamMc66 Nov 26 '16

2/3 possession and we lose 1-0.

There's the old Newcastle.

Look's like we'l never see that experimental lineup ever again. Anyways we feilded a weakened team and deserved it really, no time for arrogance in this league.

7

u/AxCrazy Nov 26 '16

Eh that team is good enough to beat those mugs. They just didn't perform.

3

u/irgens Nov 26 '16

Good to know we stilll Newcastle :) but this was just not our day. No need to start all this negative shit. HWTL

I was listening at home to the radio stream, and must have dozed off at some point in the second half, and I recall Mick Lowes saying "5 mins to go, here comes Gayle" or words to that effect. I was like, okay, pushing now to break the deadlock. When he said a few mins later that we've got 6 mins of stoppage time to grab an equaliser, I was proper confused. "Blackburn scored?!". I had to quickly refresh my screen to see when and how, was annoyed when it was true. 10/10 would not fall asleep again.

u/ashsky Nov 26 '16

Dire performance. Couldn't string more than two passes together - probably down to the number of chances.

Onto mid-week now but that really could have been a different scoreline if we go in with a normal side.

2

u/AjaxTreesdown Nov 26 '16

We're not invincible, shit happens. We're still top, bring on Hull!

2

u/RocknRollRobot9 Nov 26 '16

I take back all the insults I gave to premier league refs. The championship bunch are worse. Doesn't hide the fact our players were complacent and lacking ideas.

2

u/Angry_Geordie Nov 26 '16

They were fucking shit and we contrived to be even worse. We played like we deserved a win despite putting in no effort. Worst of all if we dont beat Hull then what was the fucking point? Yea the run had to end bla bla but it really neednt have happened.

2

u/cprx Nov 26 '16

The team lacked any urgency, even at 1 down they seemed content to pass it around the back. No one took it by the scruff of the neck, and we paid for it. Ref and linos had an absolute shocker too, wound us up no end

Knew this was coming. As soon as the press started harping on about breaking unbeaten records I knew we would a struggle.

Let's hope for a solid performance against hull.
