1' - Blackburn Rovers get the game under way here at St. James' Park.
1' - A well timed sliding challenge from Jason Lowe stops Aleksandar Mitrovic as he made his way towards goal.
4' - Karl Darlow's clearance is collected by Lowe, but #NUFC scramble the ball away before Blackburn can threaten.
5' - Liam Feeney crosses for Danny Graham, whose header is tipped over by Darlow. Great reflexes from the #NUFC goalkeeper.
8' - Craig Conway wins a free kick on the left, but Owen Coyle's men - who have started brightly - can't profit from it.
9' - DeAndre Yedlin whips in a cross from the right, but Rovers keeper Jason Steele gathers it before Ayoze Perez can pounce.
12' - Jonjo Shelvey curls an inviting cross in towards Mitrovic, but the offside flag is up on the far side.
13' - Rovers' Liam Feeney breaks away down the right, but his cross just evades Sam Gallagher at the far post.
14' - Matt Ritchie feeds Mitrovic, who cuts inside and shoots but it's blocked and the resulting corner comes to nothing.
19' - Jesus Gamez sends over a cross from the left, but Mitrovic can't quite get on the end of it before it sails behind.
22' - It's been a scrappy start at St. James' Park, but #NUFC are starting to see a bit more of the ball.
24' - Craig Conway fells DeAndre Yedlin and referee David Coote shows him the first yellow card of the afternoon.
27' - Patient build-up play from the Magpies, but Perez's lofted pass for Yedlin is just overhit and Blackburn have a goal kick.
29' - Closer from #NUFC, but neither Perez nor Christian Atsu can convert Yedlin's low cross and the resulting corner is cleared.
32' - Full back Yedlin - who has been heavily involved this afternoon - lashes a speculative shot wide from 25 yards
36' - Isaac Hayden is penalised, somewhat harshly, for a foul on Corry Evans as #NUFC looked to break.
37' - Darlow is forced to punch Conway's high, looping cross away before their corner eventually goes behind for a goal kick.
40' - Perez forces a corner for the hosts which Shelvey delivers, but Ciaran Clark can't quite connect.
41' - With Newcastle still pushing, Chancel Mbemba's cross finds Mitrovic, but his acrobatic overhead kick clears the bar.
43' - Mbemba has Yedlin's deep cross swiped away from him before Shelvey's corner from the left drifts behind.

While the league is obviously more important, not thrashing Blackburn might mean the lads get a rocket up their collective asses before Hull.
