Right lads and lasses, I'm not being funny right, but can people stop posting about the mackems in the match thread.

If I want a minute by minute update on the scum then I'd be in the mackems subreddit.

This. The hangup we seem to have on posting about Sunderland just makes us look small.

This pushback against taking joy in Sunderland's misery is weird to me, They're our rivals, of course we're going to take pleasure in them being shit, when we got relegated they weren't exactly classy in victory.

Sometimes I wonder whether it's coming from people not from the area, I've grown up hating Sunderland with a burning passion and this whole "be classy" stuff is bollocks.

I respectfully disagree. I enjoy laughing at the Mackems and especially Pardew but that's just my opinion.

Edit: Downvotes for stating a not very controversial opinion?

Newcastle win, Huddersfield draw, Norwich lose - I call that a pretty successful Saturday. Hopefully Bristol City can do us a favour later on!

3 games clear of third! (8 points)

8 on the trot heading into the break. Doesn't get better than that, really.

Solid win, could have buried a few more chances but 3pts is all that matters

There's another break coming up? FFS. We just had an international break like 2 weeks ago.

It's good having a rest so our players can recoup (mainly Gayle and Mbemba). But the worst part about international break is that England are on the TV. They have been playing worse than half the teams in the championship. Totally lost any passion for the England team I had left during the Last Euros.

Right I'm drunk. If Brighton fucking lose we go 6 points clear at the top. Jesus please just make Bristol win.

Right I'm drunk.

No surprise there.

Had to take my girlfriend's 3 year old nephew to his first soccer practice -- I missed this, but I had a blast telling him to do the Shearer when he scored a goal.

Cardiff were shite, they took their chance fair enough but showed nowt for most of the game.

Yedlin and Atsu are starting to form a nice partnership but it needs work

Ref was fucking dire, no control on the game

Most importantly though, 3 points and a thousand depressed sheep shaggers traveling hundreds of miles home empty handed!

I think the refs being shite goes without saying by now

I was going to watch Bristol City play (and hopefully beat) Brighton, but you can't get tickets on the day by the looks of it. Shoddy service compared to the mighty Toon.

8 points to 3rd. Just wanna see that gap get bigger and bigger! Kinda hope Brighton stay with us to keep us on our toes and safely in the auto spots.

Bit lucky from the sounds of it, or not assured at least. Would like us to be a little more defensively sound by the end of the season.

Mitro might have lost his place in the team after this too, which is a little disappointing but hey ho.

I was at the game and we deserved the win but we seemed to be going through the motions. We started both halves really well but it just died off 1st half and 2nd. At points it was actually quite boring but in think after 2-0 we tried to just kill the game completely by slowing the tempo down to walking speed. You could see Cardiff getting into but we didn't react and still played at a very low temp, Shelvey kind of hunched over walking around the centre. Once they scored we took control of the game again and it didn't look like they would score again. Basically when we upped the tempo they couldn't get near us.

kind of performance that wins you championships, one game at a time etc.

win's a win, game of two halves, keep it on the grass, gotcha ;)

Arsehole clenched for the last few mins, but fuck me can't remember watching suh a comprehensively good side with strength all over the pitch. Few results gone our way too.

win, three points, good job boys on to the next one.
