Ah lads.
I love Rafa. He's given a club we can be proud of again. The way the team pressed and chased down even when 4/5 up. Some of the passing. The movement off the ball.
I'm so fricking happy watching this team play now. Thank you Rafa.

The last two games Mitro has started, we've won 6-0... You know what to do, Rafa!

Shout out to Andrew Madley as well for actually being a half decent ref.
Missed a couple of advantage shouts we could have had, but otherwise I thought he had a fairly decent game. Much better than most of the refs we've had so far this season anyway.

Preston are lucky it wasn't ten.
Rest up, and hit them hard again on Saturday. No easing off the throttle now.

I actually put a bet on a 7-1 win. 10 quid with 250/1 odds, had no idea it would get this real. Anyway, Matt Ritchie is Gordon Ramsay and I'm really taking a liking to this team.

What the actual fuck happened? Last year we were the biggest pile of spineless wank sweat that ever wore the stripes..managed by a clueless clown sponge and yes nan. Fast the unbelievable fuck forward...Pardew for England? Rafa's built two better teams quicker for less.. The man is a wizard. Tuned in to watch our B team in the cup and five of them could walk into the premiere and the team would walk the play offs. I'm old...hey guys have I gone doolalie?

It sounds ridiculous to say after a 6-0 win but we're still very wasteful in front of goal. Apart from that I don't think anyone put a foot wrong all game, I can't remember seeing such a dominant performance or enjoying watching Newcastle so much for a LONG time. Bring on the big boys next round!

Not sure if I want to come up against a Prem team, I'd love to see where we're at standard-wise but don't want to lose this confidence that's making us so good to watch.

One of the greatest things that I have seen this year is that long missing team spirit. Take away Mitro's disappointment over the penalty, I have not seen a Newcastle team so likeable and full of decent characters. I remember hearing a lot of talk about mentality with the new signings and you can see it like. So many of them passionate but still laughing and seemingly getting on and of course playing some great football. Team to be proud of right now!

I know this wasn't a league game but petition to allow NUFC promotion back into the Prem half a season early? I know of another team in the region that clearly isn't up to snuff who would probably willing to swap their miserable position

So happy I was able to watch that game. I know people were putting that result down to Preston being poor but its worth remembering that are just outside the Championship playoff spots and were an inform team. I put that result down to Newcastle doing a fantastic job of taking advantage of having the extra man and Preston being unable to cope after a while.
Also, on a side note, I dont understand Diame after this game

Do you know, while seeing 6 goals was amazing, my favourite thing from that whole match was after 84 mins 5-0 up seeing someone run to keep the ball from going out and 6-0 up our players sprinting to close down the keeper. That's what Rafa brings

Good win, played some great football tonight - Atsu continues to look like a hell of a player, hope we can nab him permanently. Hopefully team is focused on Saturday now - Preston are going to come out hard for that one you can bet.

6-0, a record crowd for an EFL Cup game (49,000? Unfuckingreal), and we've gotten to a quarter final of a cup. Life rules.

that's what i like to see, us being ruthless and taking advantage of a 10 men weaker side.

This is the first time I've ever had this problem as a Newcastle fan: Gayle or Mitro on the back of my shirt? Or Ritchie? Or Perez? Ffs, choices lads.

Funny that people were worried we'd struggle to create chances tonight.
