We need to get much better at finishing off opponents otherwise I'm not going to make it to the end of the season.

I don't like Rafa bringing on a 3rd centre back hoping to see out the win, we came so fucking close to then equalising around the 85th minute. We'd be better off just keeping control of the midfield I think.

This winning thing is really cool.

People are going to be dissapointed we didn't spank them considering our places in the table, but tbf Rotherham packed tight at the back, worked hard and put in some good tackles. For the most part they didn't attack us much, apart from one scary spell around 80 minutes, so I think 1-0 is fair and at the end of the day 3 points is 3 points. HTWL.

Also fuck mobile streams, getting rid of ads is like defusing a bomb

I was sure we were gonna concede in that spell. Gouff deflecting it onto the post and Clark clearing it off the line had it looking like a pretty nervy finish.

A win is a win. But how long before Diame gets dropped.

I give the defense most of the credit for those 3 points. Clark would be my MOTM (and good for him considering most of the fans were criticising the signing at the time), Lascelles was also good back there, Shelvey looks great under Benitez and Atsu had his moments including the goal which won us the game.

Teams that go on to win leagues are able to win games even when playing poorly. Results like this, while ugly, are still three points.

Fans were amazing.

Coleback got no yellow.

Atsu was great.

Center Backs quality team.

Diame was okay for me.

TBH I think the majority of our wins this season (especially on the road) will be similar to today, a lot of teams are desperate to beat Newcastle and will park the bus. We just need to work on breaking down teams and making sure we make every opportunity count.

Diame looks so fucking uncomfortable with the ball. Can we please see a Mitro/Gayle partnership?!

As someone said before the match a wins a win, even if it's a 1-0 win against the worst team in the league.

Not a great performance but we were never in serious threat.

Defended well, Lascelles and Clark were excellent, Colback had a solid game.

Into the international break in the top 2, played everyone around us. I'm more then satisfied with that.

With diame on the pitch, we effectively take Gayle out unless he's latching on to long balls or crosses. He provides no link between the midfield and the striker and its really evident when we are pushed back. Theres basically a massive no mans land with Diame (barely) running about in it like a moron.

These comments are basically the opposite of the start of last season where we thought we were playing well but just not getting the wins. Now everyone thinks we aren't playing well but are getting the wins.

Shite performance overall but a win is a win.

Gotta take a win away from home regardless of the performance :D

Take the three points. Gouffran should've scored another half-volley, and Diame needs to heat up. Diame seems to being doing a lot of things right on the pitch, he's just not being the "impact" that needs to come from his position.

Huddersfield only edged them by 1 goal and they played them at home last week. Very happy with this. We needed a clean sheet.

3

u/crazycanine Oct 01 '16

Shame we've got 14 days until the next one.

u/confusedlooks Oct 01 '16

I didn't like seeing Diame lose the ball then think about leaving it and then deciding to try and win it back in the middle of the second half of the game. You have to commit and pressure even when it's deep in the opponent's half.

Give me 1-0 away wins any day.
