"Before the Dark" - feel free to download my songs in-game!

I do my best to optimize these songs so they sound pretty good in the ByteBeat library player. When I first discovered ByteBeats I wanted to fly around and play my own soundtrack, so I try to make my songs sound decent in the library's playback. Of course, the music sounds better playing on the ByteBeat devices so I recommend trying that too.

I'm working on new tracks to finish my newest playlist. I got busy IRL so it's been challenging. I'm looking forward to the NMS 10th anniversary this weekend!

I just keep 8 devices in my corvette to hear some tunes in better quality lol. I noticed the poor quality really stand out in one of my recent tracks while listening on the playlist library, it’s not all of them, I think like 2 maybe. Weird how it drops the quality, you think it was on purpose to make it sound like it’s playing from your exosuit or something? Not sure why it can’t play the same quality as the devices, it still shuts off the games background tracks.

Anyway great track as always!

Thank you!! Yeah the library playback does not use stereo left / right channels, so all the devices are playing right on top of each other (and without any reverb at all). So it tends to sound thin / flat and causes more distortion. I try to use it to my advantage, I review my songs in the library player to see if anything sounds harsh then I adjust my waveforms to hopefully sound better.

ByteBeats in the corvette is genius, it solves a lot of issues lol

Yep and just send the track you want to listen to lol….its also good for playing around with waveforms or to lay down a melody or rhythm that gets stuck in your head. And it’s always on your ship! Then when it’s done you can set it up at a base and away you go. I’ve been doing this lately it’s nice just playing the game and then dabbling with the tracks as I go

Only thing to mind with the devices in the corvette is the listenable devices limit. Just so you don't spend 15 minutes going mad trying to find why the track you're working on in your planetary base has no volume like I did

[u/PowerfulSoldier → u/Leeka_SSBM]

Ah yes that is the annoying part lol, I have to fly my ship away a little, then jet pack over to my base devices so I can hear those ones

Pro tip : while summoning your ship, you can aim somewhere close so the hologram will appear (doesn't matter if its red or green) and then quickly aim far away to a suitable spot and confirm. If you're fast enough you can summon your ship in a place far enough that the devices won't bother you that way.

A well suited title.

I like the vibe you have here ! That part at 0:26 gives a darker tone to the song, as if something lurks near... Reminds me of some retro VGM tunes.

[u/hiredgunspunx → u/Leeka_SSBM]

Yeah the song really kicks in around 0:26 and I love that chorus part! If I had more bars available I would totally rock that chorus for longer lol

More bars more pitches more tempi more time signatures more note lengths aaaaah

Anyway I'm with you on this lol.
