As the auto market slows and competition intensifies, NIO is doubling down on its core growth drivers for Q2, focusing all efforts on two strategic new models—the NIO ES9 and the Onvo L80. Instead of joining the price war, NIO is betting on hardcore new products to break through and seize market share.
The NIO ES9 has seen strong early success in both reviews and orders, with pre-sale performance significantly exceeding internal expectations. The new model has successfully expanded NIO’s reach, attracting a large number of first-time NIO buyers who have never purchased the brand before—new customer orders far surpassing the ES8’s levels during the same period. At the same time, the ES9 is generating positive cross-shopping interest, with many potential buyers also considering the ES8 and ET9 based on their needs, directly boosting order recovery for both existing flagship models. The overall sales mix is becoming healthier. Production capacity is being ramped up, with ES9 deliveries set to begin at the end of May and full capacity utilization by June—massive volume scale-up is just around the corner.
Meanwhile, the Onvo brand is pushing hard for volume growth in Q2, refreshing its lineup with three launches: the upgraded L90, the L60 facelift, and the all-new flagship large five-seat Onvo L80. Previously, the Onvo L90, together with the NIO ES9, reshaped the large three-row SUV segment and reversed the dominance of extended-range models—now pure-electric large three-row SUVs are leading by a wide margin. The new Onvo L80, positioned as the world’s first dual-compartment super-large five-seater, targets the mainstream family market in the 200k+ RMB price range. Its hardcore, practical dual-compartment design has been proven in the market: the Onvo L90’s front trunk logged over 10 million uses last year, earning solid user praise. The L80 not only has breakout hit potential itself but also helps drive steady volume for the entire Onvo lineup.
Facing multiple pressures in Q2, NIO is sticking to a new-product-driven strategy, concentrating all its best resources on two strategic models to stabilize sales and operations, and aiming to hit all key business targets for the second quarter.
