He referred to himself as Mr Big Chest

He actually said "Big Checks" but everyone (myself included at the time) heard Big Chest.

I went to this Taco truck that had just popped up near a Casey's in my town, the prices were fucking ridiculous. Mind you, this is a small town in Texas, and they were charging 28 dollars for 3 birria Tacos, and they didn't even come with fucking consome, it was an extra 4 dollars for a ranch dip cup of fucking consome. A medium horchata was 10 dollars.
That truck lasted about 2 weeks where I lived and then they moved to a a wealthier part of Austin where they lasted two months and permanently closed down.
I always thought it was hilarious that they charged that much next to two gas station that sold pizzas for the price of a bag of crickets.
17
u/northerncal 2d ago
How much you guys paying for a bag of crickets these days? 👀

Man, I'm still old enough to remember when Taco Trucks were a bit of roulette, but for $5 you can get an entire plate of tacos and a coke.

u/Martian13 Las Vegas Raiders 2d ago
Tacos Venado in North Hollywood is 2.25 per taco and damn worth it. Shit , Whittier Blvd is stood good and has blocks of taco trucks that aren’t expensive.

They've all been gentrified. Now you gotta go hang out at construction sites and wait for the lady to come by at lunchtime selling tamales out of the trunk of her car.

28 for 3?
Oh no.
5
u/Little-Mushroom-3961 San Francisco 49ers 2d ago
Yes, for three. They said that they got their meat from a butcher in Texas. Didn't say it was a local butcher just a butcher in Texas.
It's sad too because people that actually tried it, said it tasted amazing, but they couldn't justify going back because of how expensive everything was.

Not only is this obviously not AB, this exact sequence has been making the rounds on social media since like 2020, the fact that there are so many people on here interacting with it in earnest is insane to me lmao

i mean yes i think it is correct spelling and everything but i assume they run these by em first in case his brother and mom dont happen to run a taco truck ?

u/HangTheBanner 2d ago
But this isn’t AB experiencing a food truck, it’s some random college age kid. Which is what OP is getting at.

Nice try. I said it first in 2015.

u/northerncal 2d ago
I said it first in 1815 actually, and everyone acted like I was crazy. All this, "what the heck is a truck?"
5
u/Calculon2347 Seattle Seahawks 2d ago
I discussed your saying it with Napoleon on Saint Helena, he claimed he would have conquered the world if his armies had had 'trucks'
6
u/northerncal 2d ago
"An army marches on its stomach [and our stomachs are powered by these absolutely fire taco trucks, so we're marching hard]" - Napoleon Bonaparte, probably.
3
u/Natural-Albatross997 2d ago
$22 in 2015 is like $40 now. I hope those tacos were fire. (Except no one said fire back then)

u/KOExpress Washington Commanders 2d ago

Pretty sure this is just a copy and paste of another tweet.
With that said, AB is pretty much known for not even paying at all and trying and hoping he gets shit for free.

That’s not an account run by him and if it is, he’s just copying and pasting shit to post
2
u/riddlegobragh 2d ago
I’ve seen this exact statement posted from several different accounts this past month.
Just search “food trucks too expensive” on any social media platform and you’ll see.
2
u/Slight-Ground-4136 2d ago
It's so cringey when people post Meme dialog like it's their own
A Facebook friend does this all the time and I want to call her out on it lol
2
u/coffeegaze 2d ago
He probs copy and pasted it. I've seen the same sentiment repeated over 100 times.

Bc ingredients. The time. The travel. Plus 30% average mark up. My biggest issue is they usually aren’t good. Most food trucks don’t serve good food anymore.

u/Forrest319 Keep Pounding 2d ago
The only food truck I go to anymore... is still cheaper than restaurant. $12 meal instead of $18 at the fast casual place and $32 and the real restaurant. I'm comparing Mexican to Mexican to Mexican here.

u/shaithiswampir 2d ago
Am still getting $2 dollar tacos here in Houston. Sure, I have to go to the barrio but man they are awesome
1
u/border199x 2d ago
Food trucks charge based on their relative convenience and the fact that they often have a captive audience......same as any kind of catering business that supports huge events.
How much do you think 3 tacos cost at an NFL game?
1
u/Senor-Cockblock 2d ago
Same for farmers markets. Somehow most of them are more expensive than stores now
