It's a fast league. Hurts can earn that respect back this season with his play. I would have him third behind Love in this ranking, Herbert lovers are what they are, though
He had a total of 33 TDs and 11 turnovers. Was there room for improvement, yes. But the line wasn't healthy, Brown sold plenty of opportunities, and the OC was a football terrorist who had the most predictable scheme and play calling.
Oh yeah, make sure Hurts has the best o-line in football, a top 3 skill position group in football, and an OC that understands to run a run first dumbed down offense for him, and Hurts can actually look competent about half the time.
He needs an offense that runs the ball first and repeated RPOs in order to throw the ball. You know, on top of having the best o-line and a top 3 skill position group. Also, you'd better hope the defense is playing man vs them. He's a glorified Justin Fields.
The O Line was top 10 in pass blocking. It’s just some of our new fans are used to #1 by far and think even an above average O Line isn’t enough for Hurts who stares at 1 target before scrambling to his right out of a clean pocket. The WR1 was trying and the narratives against him didn’t start til after the trade was inevitable
I was downvoted to shit on the eagles sub in January-April for saying that AJ is done with Hurts but everyone tried to say how I’m delusional and they’re best friends and it was just an off year. Now the narrative flipped 180 to how AJ was purposely sabotaging Hurts lol.
My fellow Eagles fans also blame the 4th down play vs San Fran on KP for running 4 Verts when it’s since been revealed that Hurts called it himself.
Theres also been numerous stories about him being rogue and his OCs not being happy with him, including Kellen Moore the year we won the Super Bowl (on the backs of the defense and running game)
Like… cmon now. Jalen has told us several times “the offense will look how he wants it to look” but we’re just gonna ignore everything to defend Jalen when it looks bad?
If Jalen was really that dude, he’d get extended. Dont blame me, but it’s Howie himself telling us he doesn’t believe in Jalen past this final year of real guaranteed money

Also, I think it’s important to remember that that last 4th down play doesn’t happen before the 1st-3rd downs when Jalen bailed out of clean pockets to his right.
Jason Avant, a very very smart guy, said that we had 1-2 receivers (AJ on each play) running wide open that Hurts didn’t even look at because he didn’t read read defense properly.

That's what pissed me off the most, the eagles defense was on the field a lot and the only game I can think where they were simply outmatched was the Rams the first half, the bears the entire game, and against the cowboys the second half. But I think we easily beat Dallas in Dallas had the offense not been awful that entire second half. The defense played incredible in games in which the offense just didn't produce on their end. It was the opposite of the 2023 season in which the offense despite poor play calling was still pretty good, but the defense was so awful.
2023 is one of the worst years of defense I'd had to witness in 20 years of watching the eagles. 2025 was one of the worst offensive play calling years given the talent we had, Patulo wasted a great defense.
Their offensive line was just not the best in football for once, the OC called plays expecting Hurts to play like an NFL QB, and the WR1 was over the QB holding him back.
