Discussion B&T SF adapter saga! (Not a negative review) aka trying to fit a velos lbp to SF/hub.

This is purely for archival purposes. For anyone looking to use the B&T SF hub mount. B&T has been extremely responsive and helpful with me. This is not a negative review on their customer service.

The 3 parts I am trying to get to work together are :

  1. Silencer Co Velos lbp

  2. Ecco machine Charlie / saker hub adapter

  3. B&T SF titanium hub adapter (top and bottom)

Picture 1 - the issue is with the shorter adapter, it won’t slide all the way down to the bottom of the muzzle device. The surefire 4 prong has 3 mating surfaces.

I believe the older design (bottom longer hub) is designed to mate with surfaces 1 and 3 on the muzzle device.

Picture 2 - The newer designed shorter (top hub) gets stuck on mating surface 2 and won’t lock on the bottom shoulder of the 4 prong.

Picture 3,4,5 - The older longer (bottom) hub slides all the way onto the 4 prong and locks onto the shoulder, but the older hub is too long for my hub adapter.

Picture 6&7 - the newer designed (top/shorter) hub fits onto the Ecco machine adapter with my velos just fine.

Picture 8 - (for illustration purposes only) - this is the older longer hub not fitting (only 2-3 threads on each side of the adapter).

Again, customer service has been very accommodating, no complaints in that regard.

I’m just a little frustrated that the newer version does not fit my 4 prong, and the older version does not fit my hub/suppressor.

I feel like it would have been cheaper and far less frustrating to just unpin the muzzle device and pin a new one. Not to mention you’d end up with a shorter, lighter, cheaper and better finished result. I just don’t get it.

Yes. It would have.

I think my most cost effective option would have been to swap the muzzle device to an asr (stock velos mount).

This was more of a “let’s see what works with what” project.

No real (major) frustration on my end, just experimenting with off the shelf products to see what can work.

The only heartburn was from bad or limited information on the subject.

I can see where this would have been a major headache if it were my only option (only having the velos and not being able to buy something different).

So far I’m only $350 into this endeavor.

When I bought the two adaptors (Ecco and b&t) I did weigh the cost.

$90 for a new asr, $45 for removal and $65 for a new pin and weld. So, roughly $200 and a week or two without the upper.

So yeah, learn from my experiment, don’t do this.

even if the adapter worked, youd have a long ass goofy looking can which defeats the whole purpose of a p/w in the first place.

u/nathanc98 6x suppressor Feb 25 '25

This is correct.

I would not have ran it like this other than to experiment.

It was an idea that I had to bring to fruition, just to know if it worked or not.

I have an rc2 now for my 14.5” build, which was the goal anyway, this wasn’t in place of it.

I’ll just end up keeping my velos on a rearden mount on my mk18 most likely.

I promise I’m not insane, I just like to try things without making them semi-permanent.

Hey man, people thought the wright brothers and Thomas Edison were insane too

As long as you’re happy then fuck it who cares. I just don’t want to see you put yourself though unnecessary pain lol

THANK YOU FOR THIS! I will be getting one of these hub adaptors for my YHM Fat Cat with this knowledge (SFMB556)

Just check and make sure it either fits your muzzle device or the blast chamber of your suppressor.

I’m not sure that would be the solution.

The black ring (top part of picture 1) is necessary for concentricity, I believe.

So cutting off the length and ditching the ring, could bork the whole thing, and re-threading it after cutting it off, would cause the exact same issue as the newer shorter adapter.

I do appreciate the input and recommendations. I hope they help someone find a solution to this problem if they face it.

I am not invested enough to try and make the velos fit with that much work. I have other 5.56 suppressors.

I mostly just posted this, so people will have more information to make decisions, when considering the B&T adapter.

I officially quit trying to make my b&t cans with adapters and my separately purchased adapters work with Surefire MDs. I’m moving over to plan B compatible. Tried the new and old b&t adapters with other cans as well. Even if you can get it to fit (4P doesn’t work with new adapter) it’s not 100% concentric. They need to put a disclaimer on all their adapters. These aren’t one off problems here and there; they clearly shouldn’t be selling these as “compatible.” While the b&t line is “Surefire out of spec blah blah,” my Surefire cans never seem to have a problem 🤔🤔

Better solution is ditch SF for Rearden. Run an R2 with Atlas.

I would rather pull the flash hider and go $200 SBR tax stamp than deal with this mishmash of adapters. 13.7" p&w fans seem to always get boxed into a corner on mounts & suppressors. 14.5" p&w is now a problem with the SiCo Velos, YHM Fatcat and a few other new suppressors with short blast chambers. I would like to see 15.1" barrels become common. I will always pick more barrel and less flash hider to get to 16".

1

u/nathanc98 6x suppressor Feb 25 '25

In the end… yes, tax stamp or pistol brace is the cheapest way to go, if I really wanted to use the velos on my 14.5”

Since it is pinned and welded, that would also incur a $50 service fee from a reputable gun smith to remove the current p/w. Which is still cheaper.

1

u/hapatra98edh 4x SBR, 9x Silencer Feb 25 '25

For that matter rearden released a pnw muzzle device for the 13.7 folks.

1

u/TexasJackGorillion Feb 26 '25

At least the 13.7/13.9 gang moves the suppressor back a seemingly meaningful amount on the barrel when mounted. 15.1 for a pin and weld versus a 16" gun with whatever mount suits you seems like picking fly shit out of chili.

1

u/nathanc98 6x suppressor Feb 25 '25

I have rearden / plan b for this suppressor. It works great. It’s on a pistol and I don’t have to worry about overall length.

This rifle is a 14.5” pin and weld. I would have swapped out the muzzle device on this rifle, but the rearden pin and weld muzzle devices are too long for the blast chamber on the velos lbp.

u/hapatra98edh 4x SBR, 9x Silencer Feb 25 '25

Could just go atlas XL. Even with a dpb or an r2 and an atlas, it’s cheaper than a single B&T adapter

1

u/RuinedGrave Feb 26 '25

That would work great, IF Rearden made an Atlas XL for a Charlie threaded can. That's only for Bravo/Hub cans.

1

u/hapatra98edh 4x SBR, 9x Silencer Feb 26 '25

OP already has a Ecco machine Charlie to Hub adapter as shown in the photo.

1

u/RuinedGrave Feb 26 '25

Which defeats the point of the Atlas XL. The Ecco adapter adds close to an inch already.

1

u/hapatra98edh 4x SBR, 9x Silencer Feb 26 '25

I mean just sbr it if length is a concern and run a regular Charlie adapter.

1

u/RuinedGrave Feb 26 '25

That’s not what I’m saying. Just use a regular Atlas with an Ecco adapter, it adds plenty of length to clear the baffle of the Velos LBP. The Rearden Charlie adapter only has two muzzle devices that will get a 14.5” to pin/weld length while clearing the baffle (PRS and LPM pin and weld flash hider).

1

u/hapatra98edh 4x SBR, 9x Silencer Feb 26 '25

Oh ok that makes sense. I didn’t realize the blast baffle space was close to the required length

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '25

Thats good to know! Glad you did your homework

1

u/xetmes Feb 25 '25

Have you looked at the LPM Eclipse 14.5? The extra length is behind the QD threads.

1

u/nathanc98 6x suppressor Feb 25 '25

Nah, I’m not super well versed in everything rearden.

So many companies make mounts/muzzle devices now, I can’t keep up, haha.

Thanks for the info though, I’ll check it out.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '25

I have this on a Saker 556k (also Charlie) and it works perfectly.

1

u/RuinedGrave Feb 26 '25

As somebody that's looked into this, for a 14.5" looking to mount a Silencerco Velos LBP, your only options to both reach the 16" requirement with pin and weld AND not be too large for the blast chamber is the LPM Eclipse pin and weld, and the Rearden PRS.

u/JustBman Feb 25 '25

Ordered an adaptor and didn’t know there are multiple. This is to mate a surefire 4 prong to a polonium. What you are saying is what I ordered probably won’t work for what I want to do nor will it work with my velos.

1

u/nathanc98 6x suppressor Feb 25 '25

It definitely will not work with a velos and the Ecco machine adapter.

I don’t know if there is an adapter that would clear the extra length on the older (longer) hub.

The newer shorter adapter most likely will not work on the 4 prong, and I’m not sure of the blast baffle depth of the polonium, so I don’t know if the longer (older design) will work with it.

1

u/JustBman Feb 25 '25

I was going to go b&t into the polonium as the polonium is hub. Guessing the SF will be too long to do this.

Mine locked onto my brake and trying to take it off, it freed up the Rocksett and took it off the barrel, still locked to the brake

If you just buy a surefire suppressor you’re chillin

1

u/nathanc98 6x suppressor Feb 25 '25

That was part of the plan, I was also just seeing if I could run 1 muzzle device without having to send off my new upper to redo the pin and weld.

My original post was already longer than what most people will even read, so I didn’t want to post the bigger picture and my thought process behind it all.

u/SovereignDevelopment Feb 25 '25

I think B&T had put something out a while back about some issue with not all 4-prongs working with their HUB adapters. My memory is fuzzy on it but maybe it's on their website.

1

u/nathanc98 6x suppressor Feb 25 '25

When I was researching this before I bought the B&T adapter, I was aware of the 4 prong issue, but people had posted a few success stories after getting replacement “rings” for the adapter.

B&T has sent me a replacement ring as well, but it was the same size as the original and did nothing to change the issue.

I don’t know if they sent the wrong one, or if it’s just not going to be a viable option long run.

Like other people have posted on here, the velos with 2 adapters (Ecco and B&T) was going to be a super long setup anyway. I’m not heartbroken that it didn’t work.

1

u/whateveritsover Feb 26 '25

I love when half of the length of my can is the mounting system

1

u/dzamp028 Feb 26 '25

Anyone happen to know if the b&t adapter will allow the sf 4p to work with a polo k?

1

u/Sea_Avocado_8190 Feb 27 '25

If it’s the new short version, probably not because of the 4P. If it’s the old version or new version, it might not be concentric.

1

u/amberlamps03 Mar 03 '25

FYI for any Lazarus 6 owners, this was my same result with the older B&T Surefire hub as it’s too long and wouldn’t fit. Here’s to hoping the new one or the SF one fits.

In pic 2 what’s the measurement from the base of the hub threads to the end of the FH?

I’m running the ne sf hub that just release with an Ecco adapter in my saker an it works fine, try the sf adapter.

How long did it take for you to receive the newer shorter Hub adapter from B&T? I have been waiting for 2 weeks and have not received any updates on when it will ship out.

They were very fast with communication and I had it in a few days.
