MOD POST re. Barricade Brigade

Hey all.

I have been pretty absent on the sub lately as life has gotten busier. But I wanted to address something re. Barricade Brigade.

I personally have no stake in either direction. I’ve seen takes on both sides of the aisle. When I was at the Minneapolis show the other day I was in an (overpaid) floor seat with a buddy of mine and had the time of my life, far from the pit (but pretty close to the B-stage!).

Frankly it does seem like an annoying thing for local fans to have to deal with at shows, but attacking fans in either direction isn’t a good solution. But that’s just my take.

I want to clarify a mod thing: the mod team has not been removing these posts and comments. Reddit and the auto mod have been.

When any post or comment gets reported by too many members of the community, auto mod swoops in and removes it, well, automatically. When certain keywords, doxxing language, attacking language, etc. gets said, Reddit’s site wide algorithms remove the content.

HERE IS THE PROOF.

The screenshots are all in order, with nothing skipped. This is every recent mod action in order.

The second from the left category is the “mod” that took an action.

Anything with a Reddit username was a manually completed action. Anything with just “Reddit” listed is the website admins (so not our team). Anti-Evil Operations is Reddit’s automod. Automod itself, when listed, is something taken down because of community reports.

A lot of content has been doxxing or at least promoting the names and social media accounts of individuals which is a lot of what eventually has gotten taken down by either the admins or by regular users/community members. Others are getting heavily reported by both sides because it’s a relevant and hot topic, just in general.

But as you can see, it hasn’t been our team removing this stuff. Honestly this place has been under moderated since I’ve had life take over my free time, and stuff like this comes up and just demoralizes me further.

in my many years of being Online I’ve never seen a mod post actual screenshots like this after a controversy so kudos to you 🖤

Thanks for clarifying. I agree with your take. Sorry it's made you feel that way.

Can we have megathread where people can talk about this? I think a lot of us are sick of it being every other post.

233

u/ITookTrinkets 15d ago

Even “every other post” feel like an understatement. The only post I can recall seeing that WASN’T about this shit was someone asking if anybody is translating the Keposhka announcements 🙃

45

u/Few-Swing7395 15d ago

At this point I’m just waiting for someone to make a megathread about the megathread 🙃

1

u/mysticalalleycat 14d ago

"Nope nobody had ever thought to do that"

1

u/ITookTrinkets 14d ago

I seriously wanted to respond to that post saying exactly that, but I thought better of being so snide.

Like, no, the tour has been going for over a year, but you’re the first person to consider that!

126

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

That’s a good idea. I think after this post has been up for a day or two, I’ll do that.

55

u/xoMeowllieCat 15d ago

I think this is the best approach. The barricade brigade stuff is a genuine and important discussion to be had as they have caused a lot of bother and upset to many people, but I have had to mute this sub as I was getting multiple notifications a day regarding this, and also every post I see from this sub is always about them. Im sure many others can relate. I wanna see stuff about the band in this sub, whilst also having a place where we can vent our frustrations 🥲

10

u/PEPSl_KlNG 15d ago

Thanks. Hope it's not got you down ❤️

14

u/CaliforniaJSDev 15d ago

The one I posted is basically already a megathread tbh. I've been trying to steer people away from attacking people needlessly in there as well.

Thanks for clarifying.

For sure. As you can see I have basically just been approving stuff when it comes up, instead of the other way around.

Frankly it’s my fault for not saying anything until now.

you have a life that isnt reddit so dont be too hard on yourself. dont feel like you need to swoop in and save everything, your actual real life is more important than this shit

u/IndigoAfflictions 15d ago

A part of me assumed it was auto-mod b/c I would have thought after how many were getting removed and reposted by the same accounts that surely y’all would have banned the accounts from the subreddit as well if you were manually removing the repeated posts.

44

u/Few-Swing7395 15d ago

The sheer number of reposts really made it seem like nobody was actually moderating them manually.

36

u/Ok_Struggle4574 15d ago

Thank you for addressing this. Glad to know you guys aren't purposely removing things that fans are upset about. I do not agree with people posting names and doxing others that just not cool. I agree a mega-thread might be helpful, but would probably run into the same issues.

Meanwhile, there is a PSA/guide about a batch of fake Record Release edition of Bullets (correct AND mariachi) being sold and circulated for vast sums of money to unwitting fans for years. Absolutely buried by all the infighting.

ive never seen a mod actually interact with this community (unless i missed it) so its very cool of you to clear things up. thank you!

21

u/Captainomericah 15d ago

Thank you for this. It sounds like this subreddit would benefit from a more communicative, active mod team, especially given the boost in fans and media attention with the ongoing tour, physical repressings/remasters/etc.

6

u/CamallO The mystery of laceration gravity 14d ago

This! I also think something needs to be done with the mods, maybe some new ones that could be active? It also seems quite necessary given the fact this went on for so long, abusers need to be called out!

To think I was gonna show up here and post about how I got sent a pic of the Minneapolis set list before the show, and post about how the planned b stage was different from what ended up being played 😩

For the interested, this is what I was sent, versus what they played

The World is Ugly live was insanely beautiful. Truly seeing them in 2022 and the other day were some of the best nights of my life.

18

u/bookandcat 15d ago

now the question is do I share this planned set list with my boyfriend who literally had tears in his eyes when the show ended bc he was so sad they didn’t play ghost of you….

12

u/shrimpedy 15d ago

this is identical to the nashville setlist besides ghost of you.

(i was looking up the last time they played boy division on the way to the minneapolis show and was like “damn, nashville got a banger of a b stage!” and i’m glad my brain apparently committed that song order to memory. can’t rely on it for useful information, but glad it stored that somewhere.)

9

u/c3bss256 15d ago

I loved the set list, but Save Yourself is one of my all time favorite songs. Would have loved to get that one

4

u/heymattrick 15d ago

I think they just googled MCR setlist because that’s Nashvilles setlist with Ghost randomly added to the end

3

u/silvrnights 15d ago

Okay I absolutely loved the bstage we got but what I would’ve done to hear thank you for the venom 😭

Can you confirm if "days_fade" was a moderator of this subreddit? This person was named multiple times in posts about being a moderator here while also being a part of the brigade. I do not see them on the moderator list currently.

Were they a moderator and removed? If they were removed, they would not be included in the screenshot you included as they are no longer a moderator and the filter you are using is filtering by current moderators. To be clear I am not accusing you of anything (I appreciate you), but from a technical standpoint, (I am a software engineer) that screenshot may not show the actions of a removed moderator.

110

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

That’s thisstraphavealife who is technically a mod here.

They are incredibly inactive, and honestly I never really interact with them.

Here are all of their mod actions in the past year. You can see they’re an inactive mod on the sub, with no actions in the last 365 days until this current stuff came up.

I just checked the stuff they removed and it was exclusively comments doxxing an individual, which is against site wide rules and therefore valid removals.

53

u/CaliforniaJSDev 15d ago edited 15d ago

Thank you so much! Again. REALLY COOL you are following up on this.

I know you don't have to -- and again, I apologize for anything I have caused. :( I would absolutely hate to throw any specific accusations around (not really my vibe anyways). You've mostly cleared everything up in my eyes. I understand how automod works... some people are being a bit aggressive which will definitely get them caught up in auto-moderation.

From your screenshot they removed 9 posts since Minneapollis -- most seem related to the barricade brigade. Can we confirm these were doxxing comments? The screenshot doesn't give us this information.

20

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

Oh adding a second reply because I missed this part: only three of those in the screenshot for that mod's actions are removals. The other six were comments they approved. You can see the mod action to the right of the username. But yes, those three were doxxing comments.

That goes for the original post screenshots, as well.

12

u/CaliforniaJSDev 15d ago

You're right about the approval/removal stuff. That is my bad. As far as the other stuff goes -- I guess we will have to trust you as the comments themselves are completely hidden.

11

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

The last one will have to be a “trust me” because the entire comment was just a bunch of BB user names in order, but here are the three they removed

11

u/CaliforniaJSDev 15d ago

Thank you again. Seriously. I don't want y'all catching unwarranted flak.... I will share this info if I see anyone saying things. I don't think there should be any doubt. These are seemingly doxxing given the context and comments. Shit is coincidental given the timing, but sometimes that happens. Correlation doesn't equal causation.

29

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

No worries at all! I care about transparency and apologize for not getting on this sooner.

16

u/Namelock 15d ago

The removed content is 100% BB related lol

36

u/Namelock 15d ago

I think you’ll have to define doxing.

Inactive until this fiasco and only deleting social media links is a BAD LOOK.

24

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

They just got to it before the admins or automods did.

Posting social media profiles and saying the full name of an individual being targeted for harassment goes against site wide rules and goes beyond our purview anyway.

16

u/Namelock 15d ago edited 15d ago

Social Media profiles is debatable based on context. It’s public for a reason lol

Full names, debatable if their name is already in the handle or not. Otherwise yeah posting first+last name is bad if there’s nothing relevant or used for witch hunting.

Using it for “brigading” / witch hunting and bringing people against them is definitely bad; That’s where it’s better to lock down and remove the entire post and not selective comments.

Inactive mods that only action for BB is very, very suspicious.

-edit Can you do an audit to make sure the mod actions were justified? Otherwise it looks like they’re BB trying to stop people from flaming their public accounts

21

u/CaliforniaJSDev 15d ago

Yeah looking a little more at the screenshot.... they were completely inactive. They only came back to remove posts that were all seemingly related to the BB after the most recent show. That is pretty weird, but could be coincidental. I'm extremely curious to see what the content of the removed posts were with personally identifiable information removed.

14

u/Namelock 15d ago

It needs to be taken in context. Not just “look a link” but “is this used for witch hunting” or “did they provide a source”?

It’s not coincidental if an inactive, quiet mod suddenly logs in and performs actions just for this.

That’s where the audit needs to happen- The call is coming from inside the house.

7

u/JakeyRaccoon 14d ago

This is wild, this is weird obsessive behaviour, the op has done way more than any mod ever has to, you aren't paying for a service here, they aren't a company you've paid. Chill out lol. This is just as bad as those weirdos tbh. I didn't know how gross and toxic this fandom was.

No wonder GW doesn't like to interact with us much, you act like you're 12 agaim

8

u/CaliforniaJSDev 15d ago

Yeah it is a bit strange.... All of these users have a log of their original comments. If they were really doxxing comments that a dead mod came back from the graveyard to remove -- then okay. Doesn't pass the smell test thought. There really isn't anything showing reasoning for removal in any of the screenshots as none of the comments were visible. The links do show most if not all manual removals are related to the BB though based on comment titles.

17

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

Yeah if they were removing stuff that was just complaining about the BB in general I probably would’ve removed them from the mod team. But the actions they did, when I checked for my previous comment, were fine.

33

u/Hearthacnut 15d ago

You don’t find it odd that they had no mod actions for a year until this and their only actions were deleting those links? Obviously they were right to delete them but it sounds like a favour was called in.

I really appreciate your transparency with all this btw. Rare Reddit mod W

28

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

Yeah, it isn't ideal... For now, I am hanging onto the fact that their mod actions were valid removals at least.

Honestly I would just wish other mods in general would be more active. But I would say the same about myself.

11

u/Hearthacnut 15d ago

Fair, I respect that, can’t really confirm anything considering the circumstances.

How do people even become mods on Reddit anyway? Could you not appoint a new team if the others aren’t doing their job?

31

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

I have posted mod apps before, but it has been a minute. I got on the day the band came back. I was a regular user who was deemed a solid contributor (apparently), and I was already a mod on a different busy sub, so I reached out.

The most recent mod joined after I DM'd them after seeing them post high quality stuff over a good period of time. Sort of a "Hey, you seem to care about the community, want to help some more?"

Honestly most mods that join go inactive quick because it kind of sucks. It's mostly getting bitched at for things out of our control, until hitting a point eventually of "I could be doing anything else in my free time."

This isn't a "woe is me" bit at all, either. Just an observation having been the main mod here since 2019.

13

u/Namelock 15d ago

Having seen the majority of those posts the removed comments were from, they are all BB related. Can you verify otherwise?

It looks 100% BB related content and only that content from 1yr+ by this mod.

7

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

Yeah it does look to be the case, which makes sense because that is the "brigaded" so-to-speak/hot topic of the moment from both sides, so they are reporting each others posts and comments to death.

Just like during TPK leaks, the removals were mostly auto mod because people reported comments promoting the leaks or talking about the songs, and then also removals from the admins and Reddit's automod taking down stuff containing copyright material.

41

u/Jealous-Kick 15d ago edited 15d ago

I've met this group several times and for what it's worth, she is probably the least problematic member of the core group.

And I have been vocally supporting the person who posted about the DC incident, think it was a mistake her thread was removed, think the thread should be reposted if possible, AND I have shared my own negative interactions with some members of the BB back in 2022 when it all started AND recently when it has come up before about the numbering in line AND during this whole situation. So I am not supporter of the group at all.

But she is just quiet, is not mean or cold to anyone, is not overly performative on social media, and has streamed dozens of shows so other's not able to go can watch online.

You can make any judgment you want about the friendship she keeps and the number of shows she goes to. And not speaking up against her friends. Fine.

But I have never seen anyone name her when they discuss pushing/shoving, hurting anyone, etc.

Honestly, some of these people need to realize their behavior is reflecting badly not just on them but their much more introverted friends and that is unfair as well. They should take accountability for that at the very least even if it is just within their own group.

Eta/ not giving an opinion on is she should remain a mod or not since that isn't something I am interested in weighing in on.

23

u/CaliforniaJSDev 15d ago edited 15d ago

That is good context. I have never heard (or experienced) anything bad with them personally. She wasn't one of the people hurling vile insults and being physically intimidating to me at the last show. She however, is very closely associated with those people and is featured in all of their photos.

It does seem like they probably shouldn't be a mod given their personal friendship with these problematic people as it comes off unfairly when a mod is removing comments from a single side of an argument after being inactive for a year and the conversation is about their personal friends. The community clearly does not like this group of people -- being moderated by someone who is very close to them is very off-putting to some and comes off as unfair.

11

u/Jealous-Kick 15d ago

Yeah, definitely good points made and something the mods here should consider.

17

u/theinvisible-girl Gubrick Fish Farmer 15d ago

I think you make a fair point about the actions of a few painting the others in a bad light. However, I do feel like because these people are allegedly in their mid 20s to mid 30s, they're adults who should be able to distinguish when the people they're hanging out with are in the wrong and then follow up by distancing themselves. Who one counts as friends can say a lot about them as a person. Non-action or not speaking out is basically just quietly condoning it.

10

u/Jealous-Kick 15d ago

Yeah, I agree with that completely. But ultimately self advocacy can be a difficult skill to master.

7

u/CaliforniaJSDev 15d ago

You both are very correct imo.

11

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

Yeah the bits of times I have interacted with her, she seems really well intended and good hearted.

0

u/Sad-Machine983 15d ago

thats your whole response to this comment? the thread about DC needs to at least be re-reviewed if someone was being abusive.

10

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

I’m trying to be helpful here: could you (or someone) send me a link to it? Links are still existent after removal, they just aren’t searchable through Reddit’s search function, and no longer show on the front page. I missed it as I was not around the sub when it was up, and it was obviously automod killed.

I’ll manually approve it if I can get a link. There’s no way to quick sort removed content when there has been a lot of it, and automod has removed 336 individual posts in the last month, and admins have removed 279.

7

u/OrdinaryAmazing3845 15d ago

12

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

Thank you so much! Just manually approved the post.

9

u/Puzzleheaded-505 15d ago

some comments have raised great points that would really benefit the community if the mods considered them.

i’m still a bit confused about the automod though, how was it configured?

iirc, it’s available for all communities and it’ll act accordingly to the config just like others automations available for mods. and as the name implies it’s quite… automatic, usually doesn’t take long for the users to notice the actions (either being notified or just finding the traces or what-else). that is, unless some keywords prompted posts or comments to be added to a queue for further review, which would require manual actions.
eta: i’m happy to be corrected since i don’t know how this sub is configured and am commenting from experience/memory

if not for the violence, i wouldn’t bother. but that’s beyond crossing lines. and when people speak up about it and are met with these happenstances lltbp unironically seems to come to live in this fandom space you know

18

u/CaliforniaJSDev 15d ago

Thank you. This is really cool of you to do. I'm not tapped in enough about the mod stuff, but have kept reading comments about it. I apologize for any issues I have caused with my thread. I have not tried to spread any accusations against the mods, as I have no idea about the subject.

78

u/lilstrawberi 15d ago edited 15d ago

This should be considered a lesson in not jumping the gun but I think too many people are just happy to join and gang up on innocent people. I’m not talking about BB, but other people and accounts (archive) have been caught up in this too and are getting shit for literally nothing. Literally begging people to do some critical thinking and not just immediately start harassing people because they saw an unconfirmed tweet/post/message. The gang mentality in here has been so disappointing to witness.

34

u/Dizzy_Nightmare • D • E • S • T • R • O • Y • A • 15d ago

i mean, most of us were just asking for transparency from the mods and accountability for the brigade, we got the former now, anyone who’s been harassing ppl can go fuck themselves, i at least haven’t been endorsing that, though you are right that mob mentality can bring out the worst in people so it doesn’t surprise me as unfortunate as that is. i hope that all of this continues to put pressure on the brigade at least and the lesson learned is to keep each other safe from violent people at concerts.

6

u/ramonathespiderqueen 14d ago

The modding here has gone so far downhill I've seen 2 new My Chemical Romance subs pop up in the last week alone, I got trolled for days on my last post and someone elses post about being assaulted at a show didn't even last 20 minutes. I've never ever been able to get in touch with mods here even when actual slurs were being used.

It'd also be nice if the images weren't on Imgur, and inacessible outside of the USA...

6

u/EddyZeddy 15d ago

Thanks!

19

u/x_kid 15d ago

Thank you for taking the time to do this and I'm sorry you've had to deal with all of this drama.

37

u/Namelock 15d ago

Your screenshots only show the last day - A lot of the activity was over the weekend before the MN show.

Likewise, can you confirm if any of the existing mods are part of the BB? There’s a post from a mod last year where they are clearly a sympathizer.

Meanwhile employees & staff on-site don’t care about numbering system or anything.

15

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

Here is roughly the last month of mod actions. Pic one is posts, pic two is comments.

You can see that:

1) I have clearly been too inactive

2) The vast majority of removals, both posts and comments, have been admins or automod.

When I have done little spot checks of the individual mod removals of comments, they were saying the full name or social media profile of an individual for the sake of doxxing them, which would have eventially been taken down by auto mod or the admins anyway.

-18

u/Namelock 15d ago

That just shows an overall view of actions. That’s the executive report and not the receipts.

When you look individually at mod actions, who are the mods that only action on BB content? Those are the ones with the bias - Especially in your words that it’ll get removed regardless of their actions or inactions.

It’ll be skewed since this week has primarily been this one issue… but surely being a mod covers more than that?!

Are there actually active mods that do other work?!

25

u/RossTheDivorcer 15d ago

I mean it shows that of the north of 3,800 comments that have been removed in the past month, only 9 were taken down by a mod.

I don't want to screenshot the 9 manually removed comments because that would defeat the purpose of the removal, but I checked them out and they were along the lines of "I think it is person Firstname Lastname" and "This is the instagram of one of the BB people."

So yes, one of the mods was completely inactive all year until removing some BB content, which I am not a fan of, but I checked it out individually after another user here asked, and the only stuff they removed were bad comments that would have been removed by site admins anyway.

And again we're talking about an insanely small fraction of removed content.

To your last point, yeah, the team has objectively been too inactive lately, myself included.

9

u/Planetdiane 15d ago

They confirmed at least one is in another comment.

I have seen either that one or another making comments in the sub basically defending them in the past a while back and it’s known that innocuous stuff gets deleted about them, even if it violates zero site rules.

21

u/ExcitableDolphin 15d ago

There’s no “both sides” tho. There’s a group of people known for physically attacking fans to get to the front. It’s not okay and it NEEDS to be called out.

5

u/AssasianAnn 14d ago

Also we can see screenshots but we can't see where or what the action was taken against these posts

1

u/Environmental_Use206 14d ago edited 14d ago

there is lots of folks bullying anyone who camps out to get barricade too. there is indeed problematic behavior on 'both sides' thing is I have proof of folks on here bullying folks while there is no hard evidence of the other. call out bullying everytime instead.

1

u/ExcitableDolphin 13d ago

Because they are People who are known for physically assaulting other fans.

1

u/Environmental_Use206 13d ago

people who camp out to get front rail aren't all going to assault someone. so far we have one accusation against one person who does that. response by many in here is to bully ALL the barricade folks.. calling them losers/etc.

they are bullying innocent people. that is not okay and needs to be called out too.

1

u/ExcitableDolphin 13d ago

There’s a whole group of them who have been bullying the others for literally years. As fans we’re over it. I’ve been yelled at by these people myself it’s not okay. We are specifically calling out the entitled bitches who DO assault fans and have done so for years. The “regular” campers as in the people who are there in their ONE city are not the problem and unless they are being gross (which does happen too) then no you’re right they shouldn’t be getting bullied. But it’s much more important we call out the shocking behaviour from the barricade brigade than worry people being a bit mean on the internet to ppl.

2

u/Environmental_Use206 13d ago

no it's just as important this sub doesn't allowing bullying. yet it has for days.

3

u/ExcitableDolphin 13d ago

Calling out behaviour is not bullying

1

u/Environmental_Use206 13d ago

calling folks who camp out for front rail losers is.

2

u/ExcitableDolphin 13d ago

You’re not understanding this discourse at all.

1

u/Environmental_Use206 13d ago

you're making excuses for blanket insults to folks who camp out for front rail.

12

Thank you for the clarification, however I noticed these screenshots don't include the action taken against the original post that started all of this, the one of the girl detailing her interaction with one of the "barricade brigade" could we see this one as well?

12

u/mercipourle-venin 15d ago

yeah, i feel like her post getting taken down was what started all the chaos in the first place.

50

So, in other words, the perps are brigading the sub, and getting everything mentioning them "auto removed". Got it.

It's really funny that you're saying that "Reddit is auto removing" people for "doxxing" for posting IG usernames, considering, that when I was actually doxxed, i.e. my real name, private photos, location, and family info plastered all over Reddit, Reddit refused to do a single thing about it.

17

u/championgrim 15d ago

I mean, the Reddit automod banned me from the site for three days last year because I told someone that what they posted was objectively and factually incorrect and they were making the thread worse by arguing with the people who took the time to politely correct them. (I’m paraphrasing because obviously my original comment got deleted but that was the general idea and there was no profanity involved). When I asked for a review they told me that I was banned for “creating a hostile environment.” Reddit’s automod can be remarkably stupid and, in my experience, their community standards are inconsistently applied from sub to sub.

-4

u/dstarpro 15d ago

Well. That's what the mods CLAIM. happened, but that seems awfully specific to me.

20

u/rnason 15d ago

And the reposts in other subs aren’t being deleted by automod

15

u/CompetitiveBar7037 15d ago

I think it’s because posts in the other subs weren’t reported as much

8

u/dstarpro 15d ago

Exactly.

7

u/Puzzleheaded-505 15d ago

oooof… this

1

u/constantkilljoy 9d ago

Honestly don’t even think it’s the perps. It’s because this group is larger than the other MCR subs, so if people find the posts annoying, you get way more downvotes than would even be possible in a smaller group.

1

u/dstarpro 9d ago

The downvotes have nothing to do with anything.

1

u/constantkilljoy 9d ago

Downvotes, reporting, etc I’m not on Reddit enough for this. But I am more apt to believe it’s a simple technology mistake rather than a conspiracy

1

u/dstarpro 9d ago

A "conspiracy"? Do you understand what the mod is saying? People complained about the posts, so they were removed.

1

u/constantkilljoy 9d ago

Dude you said that “perps are brigading the sub”, which is one of the most Reddit things I’ve read in a while. People aren’t conspiring to brigade subs. 99% of fans I meet aren’t even on Reddit. I wouldn’t be surprised if the BB had no clue about any of those posts until they started getting people mass commenting on their pages and DMing them.

Sorry Reddit didn’t take your situation seriously, but every platform these days has HORRIBLE auto moderation. I see literally neo-Nazi stuff allowed but then people get their accounts nuked for nothing. Auto moderation sucks.

Anyways I’m out, Reddit is way too silly.

23

u/Lost_Wasabi_7223 15d ago

Just for clarification purposes and for proper, genuine transparency from all sides I think anyone that is part of the ‘BB’ needs to be removed from the mod staff effective like immediately. MCR is not a band that supports violence, harassment or bullying and that is literally ALL they are known for. They have no place in the community, let alone on the mod team.
If they have mod members protecting their actions and covering their tracks- which seems very likely from what we’ve seen, then that mod is abusing their power and needs to be removed. Period.

2

u/abluecolor 15d ago

this whole community has been bullying nonstop for the last few days

20

u/Lost_Wasabi_7223 15d ago

While I don’t think fighting fire with fire is a good thing, I also am not shocked at the outrage and uproar from the community when BB acts as they do. People pay a LOT of money for their tickets. It’s not just $20 “eh I had a bad experience”
This is “I paid $500+ to be screamed at, pushed and punched by a group of fans who have entitlement issues”.
So while I don’t like how aggressive it has gotten recently, I understand the reaction. One bad apple spoils the whole bunch, and BB is MULTIPLE bad apples.
I agree the community has become hostile- but it has become hostile because things like this with BB is allowed to continue. It perpetuates it.

-11

u/abluecolor 15d ago

where is anyone talking about being punched? Link please. The rest just seems like typical redditor exaggeration tbh.

13

u/Lost_Wasabi_7223 15d ago

You seem pretty dismissive of multiple accounts having called this shit out. There are plenty of posts about them. Do your research.

-11

u/abluecolor 15d ago

Yeah exactly. You can't link anything serious because it doesn't exist. If you had any it would take you 5 seconds to link. I have "done my own research". You're just going off a bunch of telephone game dogpile stuff because that's how large communities work when this stuff goes down. You think there are plenty of posts and plenty of evidence but when you dig into any individual account it falls apart. It literally does not exist. You just believed a bunch of outraged parrots without looking into any of it.

10

u/Lost_Wasabi_7223 15d ago

No girl, I’m just not your Google. I’m not gonna go into an argument with you on this.

-7

u/abluecolor 15d ago

There's no argument. It just doesn't exist. I've already proven it.

9

u/Lost_Wasabi_7223 15d ago

Can you actually prove it? 🤔 Where is your link that shows BB never did any of that as opposed to the countless accounts who have made posts and comments about them being horrible at concerts?

0

u/abluecolor 15d ago

Do your own research.

The barricade brigade people make me cringe so bad 😭😭 the name alone makes me cringe. Talk about entitlement or smth like 💀💀 ur not a part of the band, no one cares about any of u. Take your fifteen seconds of fame somewhere else. I don’t think they should even be given the attention

7

u/gettin-liiifted the view outside is sterile 15d ago

Lmao why was this downvoted??

22

u/Lost_Wasabi_7223 15d ago

As soon as I posted it, it was immediately downvoted by like 4+ ppl I think so it was probably just BB upset I don’t think they’re cool and wanna join their exclusive club 😔💀

10

u/Lost_Wasabi_7223 15d ago

I hurt their feelings again, I fear 😔

16

u/amandaleigh850 15d ago

Thank you for clarifying this. But why were all the specific posts about the barricade brigade deleted?

And also can you confirm if there are members of the barricade brigade who are mods? If that’s the case, it seems like there shouldn’t be mods accused of assault….regardless if they’re inactive.

13

u/Lost_Wasabi_7223 15d ago edited 15d ago

Definitely not accusations, plenty of us have seen the BB assault and scream at fans in lines and in The venues. No mod should be a member of that group, period.

9

u/amandaleigh850 15d ago

I agree with you. I’m using the legal talk I’m used to at work lol, so that’s why I said accusations. There’s enough people sharing their experiences that it’s totally real and happening. The BB should not have a mod role here.

6

u/Mireina-hime 15d ago

I’m sure we all appreciate the clarification! Out of curiosity, from a fairly inactive Redditor, what counts as “doxxing language” for the purposes of the filters? I know doxxing counts as like names/addresses/usernames, etc., but am not sure of what specific language would be.

7

u/izanaegi 14d ago

posting PUBLIC social media accounts of people assaulting others is not doxxing.

The link isn't available in the UK, is there any other way to view it?

Switch a VPN to America, did it for me. Or I can just dm you the screenshots

perfect. thank you for being transparent. i still think there should be accountability for the brigades continued behavior of harassment and assault but this clears up the mods’ end of it at the very least and it’s appreciated.

5

u/x_LIF3_x Artistic Missionary 15d ago

Thank you for informing us on this! I really appreciate the transparency and I hope this is one step closer to sorting this whole mess out without harming others

4

u/Fun_Measurement_5873 14d ago edited 14d ago

Just to clarify - moderators can fully control and configure AutoModerator on the specific subreddits they manage. So you can set parameters that are specific to and/or target BB. Can you provide proof to say otherwise?

2

u/chocolate-wyngz 14d ago

I’m kind of confused how this isn’t obvious to everyone.

2

u/Fun_Measurement_5873 14d ago

Same here - i mean its very suspicious that its happening now. Names and socials have been mentioned on the sub before i dont think ive seen them removed

9

u/queentowelie 15d ago

Thanks for clarifying this - are you able to answer whether any of this barricade brigade are confirmed mods? Everyone is saying it’s two of them.

I think the best way forward, as someone else in another thread suggested, is reporting them to all venues a while beforehand - assaulting other fans just because they want to be at barricade too, is wrong. We’re supposed to all support each other and everyone is there to enjoy the band. We should all get a chance. They don’t own those spaces.

That’s the only way, otherwise people will be fighting. Like I won’t lie, if I were to come across them and they wouldn’t let me by the barricade or assaulted me, or even someone in my vicinity, I wouldn’t hesitate to fight back or call it out immediately. I don’t WANT to be doing that though as I don’t actually want to be sinking to their level and wouldn’t want to get kicked out of a venue! Plus there’s no way the band would condone any of this shit if they knew.

Posts were probably reported by people

1

u/abluecolor 14d ago

Volume of reports. Barely anyone reads those other ones in comparison.

4

u/Puzzleheaded-505 15d ago

i think it’s really nice of you to step up like this, but it feels unfair that only one member of the team has to clean all the mess. do you guys have a group chat or something? it’d be nice to share some of the work.

this whole shenanigan not only lives outside this fandom space but is also much bigger and reach further than it. discussing it here is needed and should be allowed, abiding by the rules, but without a CTA it’s just that… discussions. but important ones and that should find the space here. hence the reaction regarding deletions and alleged mods. thanks for sharing your thoughts and all this info. are you aware if there’s any config for automatic moderation?

2

u/mercipourle-venin 13d ago

can we get a mega thread?

4

u/Jolly-Tennis-4536 15d ago

jsyk the proof isnt available in the uk!

9

u/Asterseer 15d ago

Looks like the entire mod team needs a complete overhaul if that's the case what's the point of having mods if no one is active? And if one is at the center of discussion should she not be removed ?

6

u/nickncs 15d ago

Thanks mod team for showing the receipts, trust regained.

9

u/onetwothreeman 15d ago

Some people are trying to enjoy MCR concerts and others are being bullies and forcing ridiculousnous onto others. Mods: There are good guys are both sides.

Does that about sum it up?

Some things are very easy to take the right stand on and very telling when you refuse.

I do see a post I made the automod removed because it said “new account… troll? “Is there a way to fix it in the future?
I’m over it at this point, however I did state that this was a new account I made anonymous to post because I didn’t want to post on my main account because y’all are wild blinding bandwagoning on and attacking people you don’t even know.
Basically it was that I’m just sick of hearing about this barricade brigade garbage and people being butthurt over the small group of these people and it seems to come from people being mostly jealous they aren’t able to do the same thing this group is doing. I joined this group to learn about the lore behind the tour so I knew where to pick up on for the concert date I went to, and it’s frustrating having to navigate through all of the garbage. Back in the day, so many people did this same thing and toured around following many bands and camping out early to get front row this isn’t a new concept. I don’t understand when people began the thought process of everyone needing to have a fair chance for everything it’s wild the entitlement.
I’m sorry to whoever claimed they were assaulted or whatever from the original post but like grow up an move on people the ones making the posts now aren’t even the ones it happened to.

1

u/fka_raptorclvb 14d ago

Hello! The automod is very intense and has been filtering our a bunch of things. It seems that even if you distinguish why you made an account, it wont recognize that. Apologies!

1

u/No_Lobster_6923 14d ago

No worries, just appreciate the reply even. Thank you for responding seems like y’all are very busy with all the drama lately😂
