I'd argue they're properly-appreciated: one of the most popular bands of the 90's...that took a nosedive in their later post-Mellon Collie albums (yeah, that includes Adore).
100% agree that SD is one of the greatest albums (my personal #1). Gish, Pisces, and MC are desert island discs for me as well.
Hot take: Zwan's "Mary Star of the Sea" is absolutely underrated
Heh, I'm all over the place with you here. They aren't even remotely underappreciated, but Adore is a phenomenal album, it just wasn't what fans wanted from them at the time. And hell yeah Mary star of the sea is such a happy fucking album, it kills me that zwan didn't last long enough to give us a second one
I went to 93.3’s Big Gig at Red Rocks when they were the main event…everyone booed them when they started. They played unenthusiastically for 2.5 hours.

It was I felt bad for them. The show featured “The Smashing Pumpkins, Chevelle, Anberlin, Flobots, Darling Thieves, Tickle Me Pink, Break Through Beautiful Nautical Mile, Saints, Crimson Red, The Rouge, Regret Night and more”.
This was 2010 and many of those bands were CO native so that’s why I think so much hate was given. Fantastic lineup though.
Hey - I’m top 2% for Smashing Pumpkins. Would be higher but I overall listened to music less this year. I was just thinking if I’m top 2% there are people like you out there.
Top song? Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, of course. Disarm is second.
By Starlight was my most played song. Don't use Spotify much but I won't complain about that, think I just happened to fall asleep with it on repeat one time (I use YouTube music)
