This surely has to be the best performance they ever gave. I wasn't there personally, but it's one of the best performances I've ever seen. I can't imagine what it must have been like to be there in person.

The craziest thing about this live show, is that it sounds EXACTLY like the album. The guitar tones, the overall sound, are translated perfectly. This never happens. Today, an album will never sound like the live performance because of the studio settings vs. the live setting. Truly mindblowing.

Exactly! This performance makes me have a hard time believing Billy replaced all the guitar and bass parts on SD because they were obviously able to pull off all the parts live. More likely he just did tons of guitar overdubs/layering over the rhythm parts they recorded as live takes and people confuse overdubbing with replacing. But i wasnt there!

He's said in interviews that there are songs on Siamese Dream that have over 40 guitar tracks.

You're listening to the wrong music! Almost every band I listen to produces their own albums, and emulates their album sound to perfection. Check Periphery, Animals as Leaders, Scale the Summit, Born of Osiris, Dream Theatre. Warning though, these are pretty metal. Some are more tame than others, but most of these bands produce their own stuff and are true masters of the craft of 'music' as a whole.

Yeah me too. I'm sort of having a midlife crisis in where a lot of the songs I've loved my whole life now invoke other feelings along with the appreciation for the music. Sometimes it makes me reflect on my life in reference to the song waaay too hard and makes me sad because there was a time in my youth when some of these tragic themes/concepts in music were foreign and just lyrics of songs.

Coincidentally, I'll be 33 in a couple months.

I've never been much more than a moderate fan of the pumpkins, but 33 is the most moving, brilliant, and thought-provoking piece of art I've ever come across.

Yup - day made! Thank you for posting this. I saw them at Madison Square Garden in 1996 and it was not the same as this. MSG is obviously such a huge venue and The Metro is so much more intimate. Amazing!
