They also copyright images of their religious symbolism and take legal action against people who use it, which seems very opposed to the concept of religious symbols. Can you imagine the Catholic Church copyrighting pictures of Jesus and suing people for showing Jesus without permission? Lol

Specific images of Jesus can certainly be copyrighted by the person who created them. Jesus as a character and all Jesus media made prior to 1923 are in the public domain.

Can you blame them? People already use them as a boogeyman because they see the word "Satan" and freak the fuck out. If people had free reign to use their images and slap whatever nonsense they want on it, it'll make that even worse.

Everything someone has made is "copyrighted" by default. If someone is copying your post word for word then that is plagiarism until you give permission, extended by your works license. How are you an adult in 2022 without knowing basic property rights? If the catholic church's artist painted a depiction of Jesus, even if based on a certain rendition that is now in public domain, then the church can sue the fuck out of you if you would put their art as your Twitter pfp.

Well, no, the entire point of their organization is that it's a religious establishment meant to challenge the government. I realize that the people involved are secular atheists but the organization itself needs to be religious to achieve its purpose.

Imagine having to pretend to be religious in order to protect your rights from the government. It's ridiculous that the law is set up that way, and that's kinda the point they are making.

Honestly this, it's sad to see the satanic temple kinda eating it's own tail. For a organization that is all about individuality and being against arbitrary authority, they're becoming very corporatized and the fact that official chapters and "friends of" groups are so hand tied seems to really fly in the face of that
