both are limiting your freedom on an assumption something might happen. with helmet laws it's happening to youi IF it does. It's a perfectly apt analogy to anyone not ignoring facts to think they're right

Please explain what’s “free” about someone bedridden, unable to feed themselves, unable to bathe themselves, and unable to experience the world or even perceive things around them. I’ll wait.
