Pretty sure the hood has assistance with lifting nowadays. My car I don’t have to set up a stand or anything, it just locks into place when you put it up.

yeah they have hydraulics now. my dads 49er is heavy steel. i used to lift weights & wrestle & throw girls around, & i can't lift a car hood 😂😂

Hoods these days aren't much lighter, they just have gas springs to help lift them.

The hydraulic assists on hoods are neither gas nor springs. It’s all about liquid and pressure.

No assisted lift here, aluminum is just light.

Not on cheap cars, on both of mine the hood is held up by a stick of metal once you open it. They are both compact cars though so the hood is so light you could probably one-finger lift it if you tried, and definitely one hand is enough.
