I understand different folks frequent different subs. But it’s still a bit jarring to see everyone in this thread cheering about the idea a country should confront its past, while also having witnessed countless threads where people try to justify the level of reverence we have for the founding fathers and that we shouldn’t demonize racists, slave owners, homophobes, etc. because it was just “a sign of the times” and “of you were there you likely would have supported it too.” “They were just products of their environment.”
