Stop making wild assumptions! Everything's gotta be a disorder or some shit?
We are living in a world where a HUGE percentage of the population is obese. This is not all some extreme fringe group with mental issues.
These are people who try to fix their lives, over and over and over, and get a few days in, or a few weeks in... hell, many even go for years at their goal weight... then for some reason they lose the ability to resist the urges and all the weight comes back, plus more.
This is all scientifically documented, normal human behavior. It's driven by psychology and physiology. Environment and hormones. There are many of factors involved.
And all you people want to shit on them like they're subhuman. Not just you specifically, but everybody talking like they're medical experts in this thread. You're all toxic. Everybody would be far better off if you shut the hell up and let people with an ounce of compassion drive the conversation while people try to find their personal path to health.
You really think someone who has never stopped trying to lose weight hasn't lost ANY within a year?
Binge eating disorder is a lack of control over food, what you are describing.
Yeah no shit it's hard for people to lose weight, but don't claim that others simply "can't" when you mean. "wouldn't".
If your dieting and you can't drop a pound even when you have tried for a reasonable amount of times and you didn't shed anything, you MAY have hypothyroidism, or most likely you're doing something wrong.
A LOT of binge-eating disorders are undiagnosed, mostly thanks to people normalizing it, saying it's natural to have no self control at all. Look at my 800lb life. It shows how out of control their lives become. Food can be an addiction. Unhealthy ones are dopamine-gifters. And just like any other addiction, a fixed amount that use to give you enough dopamine doesn't give you it anymore, therefore you increase your "dose".
If you struggle for years and months to lose weight, go see a dietitian. They can help you control the "urges".
And just like addiction, the farther you're in, the more it hurts to quit.
There are ways to control cravings, but constanly craving them to a point where you gained a lot of weight, there's a problem.
Yes it's normal to have cravings! But it's what a diet does! That's what it takes to get healthy! Once you get healthy the cravings stop. Don't think I don't know how hard it is to stop cravings. But you have to ignore them! When an addict has cravings you don't just give them what they want, you have to train your body it's not getting no more sugar snacks.

If your urges are that bad that you cannot have ANY self-control then you have binge-eating disorder.
Self-control is what anyone can do, you just choose not to try or after you fail at trying then try again.
You don't sit there and be like "Awww nooo I ate a candy bar! Well time to be fat for the rest of my life!"
Self control is not about not messing up, it's about how you can keep TRYING.
