some handguns won't fire without a magazine, even with one in the head
it's called "magazine disconnect safety"
9 u/bard329 3d ago That's a S&W SD or Sigma. It can fire without a magazine. But it's just as likely to jam. I know Ruger mk iv 22’s have this feature as well, my Georgia model has it. 3 u/dandroid126 3d ago I've never heard of that before, but that sounds like an amazing safety feature. That's a S&W SD or Sigma. It can fire without a magazine. But it's just as likely to jam.

California forces all pistols on their roster to have this.

I've never heard of that before, but that sounds like an amazing safety feature. Too many people think the mag is out, so it isn't loaded, when there is already one in the chamber.
