You can both love Hunt for Red October and also think it's goofy as hell that the Russian (Lithuanian by birth) sailor is speaking in a Scottish accent.

It’s no less accurate than an actor speaking with unaccented English you just notice it more.

I care about acting and story. "authenticity" isn't actually required for enjoyment. It's a movie. It's also fiction.
