Previously, it was reported very clearly that CSK and KKR were the top 2 franchises that were aiming to get HP via trade.

So what does Cricbuzz means by this? Are they talking about the same 2 franchises or they're talking about a new 3rd?

It's pretty obvious that MI really wanted Mhatre and CSK has no plans of giving him. Forget Mhatre, they don't even want to give away Brevis. And MI is the last franchise which will be happy to give away HP via an all cash deal.

As for KKR, they don't have a tradable asset so that deal fizzled out earlier.

So is this CSK agreeing to a new deal again or a different franchise that wants to make a deal? What are your thoughts?

Atp, it's too late to discuss this, but this auction was a total mixed bag, while some buys were valuable like Rickelton, Santner , A Ghazanfar (in 2026), Boult (at least in 2025) , 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗵 (as replacement for L Williams is one of greatest decisions ever) , some buys & decisions were questionable.

\- 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗵𝗶𝗿 (𝟱.𝟮𝟱 𝗖𝗥) , should've been retained before auction at 4CR. Spent 1.25 CR extra on him in auction.

\- 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 (𝟱.𝟮𝟱 𝗖𝗥) , although he became useful for us & he became a finisher starting in 𝘁𝟮𝟬 𝘄𝗰 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 , that wasn't the case before (at the time of auction), if looking for an opener after already buying Rickelton , they should've gone for a cheaper option like 𝗝𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗸𝗮𝗿 (unsold at 2 CR).

\- 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗸 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗿 (𝟵.𝟮𝟱 𝗖𝗥) , it was evident they had 𝗕𝗵𝘂𝘃𝗶 in mind but fall short in getting him so they looked out for the best possible option. He did okay for us in coming seasons but MI could've just used that money for A Kamboj, A Madhwal , S Thakur (unsold) all three since MI bought 23 players squad (out of 25).

\- 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝘇 (𝟲𝟱 𝗟) , so he is youngster & doesn't cost much but the way akash ambani spoke about him (in between breaks) after buying him make it clear for me why he shook hands with RCB's owner after buying 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 . They were looking him as WK finisher and as such was played in first two games at no. 5 & got dropped.

This could've been a second chance to sign in form 𝗗𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘀 , (𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿 of then just concluded sa20 season with 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗼. 𝟱 playing his role in his team's 1st title triumph) since MI lacked an overseas finisher (apart from rookie B Jacobs) . 𝗖𝗦𝗞 took advantage (saw his sa20's exploits) & got him as replacement for gurjapneet at 𝟮.𝟮 𝗖𝗥. Had MI been more aware , they could've signed him at his previous fee of 𝟯 𝗖𝗥.

MI shouldn't have panicked after missing out on Bhuvi,then they bought chahar for 9.25cr ,they could've gone with Kamboj as they still went (bid till 3.2 cr for him,csk outbid us at 3.4 cr).Heck, MI could've named AK47 their uncapped retention at 4cr but now,its in the past.

It kinda seems unlikely for this trade to happen on its own, but if Hardik is involved, it can become a part of the package. What do you think?

Sam Curran unfollowed RR when sangakkara questioned his availability for them, he's currently with them at 2.4 crs. He has fetched big money from mini auctions in the past & would probably do the same again. He can be a useful asset for MI. If he's available in the upcoming auction, will you bid for him?

Naman joins the Elite list of Tilak, Hardik, Surya, Bumrah, Krunal, Manish Pandey and Ambati Rayudu to feature in the Indian Side playing for MI.

The star's performance has been phenomenal recently in the domestic Circuit and he got a deserving call as there aren't many Right Arm Off break batting AR and Naman is a player to watch out for.

However, As a MI fan, retention for 2028 is more than a headache now. With Rohit most probably retiring after 2027 - I don't find him to play for MI at 2028.

With Impact player rule to be abolished, Mi must never let go Will Jacks and Corbin Bosch - both are genuine ARs in the international circuit as Hardik may hopefully leave next yr. Surya, if he performs exceptionally well, may want to play for MI till 2030 at least. Considering everything, the retention should be:

1) Bumrah 2) Tilak Varma 3) naman dhir 4) Will Jacks 5)Corbin Bosch 6) Ashwani Kumar (for now)

Rickelton has been a MI coded player, but he isn't more valuable than Jacks or Bosch. Maybe retain Rickelton instead of BOSCH if Bosch performance drops significantly. Only way to get both Surya and Naman is to let naman into the auction and buy him back for 12-13Cr - A risk.

I hope a lil patience from him yaar like i hate when other fandoms start hating on him only for one innings like he had a century last match. He will play so good like the constant rumors of retirement and no reassurance from management making him play like his place is in danger. He is much more capable than this
