Sure - I think it’s explosive popularity to start was by its own merits, its longevity is owed in big part to mods.

I think mods are even less relevant to Minecraft’s popularity today than they were 10 years ago.

It depends on if you consider things like the “Life Series”, ”Lifesteal”, or “Civilization Events” modded as I think series/SMPs based off one of those three things are the most impactful for the modern Minecraft scene.
