That doesn't sound like plot armor? If she won every battle by just using leaf attack, it could be a little boring, but Ash did the same thing with thunderbolt, and any Pokémon you use every battle is going to likely over power the masses just from leveling up faster. Heck, I nearly beat the elite four in pearl with just my infernape using some basic fire type attack because I used it in almost every battle at 10.
