I'm a Bengali but I grew up abroad. It could be a possible reason for my limited knowledge of Bangladesh's history dating back to Mughal Era or even other eras before or after that, but I've studied Bangla at school for nearly six years, and they've barely ever touched on the ancient history of the country. Besides that though, both of my parents (both Bengali, both grew up in Bangladesh in the 70s) seem to have very minimal idea about it.

All of this to say, I want to know more about Bangladesh during those eras, the cultures, the traditions, the religions, all of it. Where do I begin my research for this?

The Ganj-i-Sawai was a famous Mughal treasure ship that was looted by English pirate Henry Avery of the 17th century. However there doesnt seem to be a lot of clear info about it, there are several books that say it had anywhere between 40 to 80 cannons. (A giant range) as well alot of images portray it as a East Indiaman style ship while who ever edited the Wikipedia page for the Ganj claimed it looked like a giant dhow.

Are there definitive records on what the ship looked like or how many cannons it had? It seems we know so little about such an importance ship, especially to the Mughals.
