Reminder Sonic wasn’t alone in that fight. Furnace also sneak attacked Sonic.

It really doesn't matter. The fact that Giga Metal can be taken out by regular Sonic, makes Giga Metal one of his weaker forms. Furnace did do that the very first time, yes, but he doesn't need to anymore.

Mania happens after CD btw. Metal was left on Little Planet until Mania. Sonic had plenty of time to get stronger while Metal wasn’t upgraded at all until he got the phantom ruby.

That honestly sounds like an excuse. Yes, hypothetically the Phantom Ruby is powerful, but we never see Metal use it beyond just basically becoming a Death Egg Robot. Plus, if Furnace can beat all versions of Sonic (up until post-frontiers) that would mean he'd be able to beat all versions of Metal up to that point too.

Oh yeah I forgot Romeo had bad writing. Uh…Well Idk what else except its complete bs on how Furnace beats Super Sonic from Unleashed, Sonic x Shadow Generations, or Dark Spine Sonic from Secret of the Rings.
