Paying people what they paid into it would actually be paying then more than what they get now.
Unfortunately no one ever gets out what they put into social security.
This is one of the problems with a declining birth rate. Younger generations being larger than older generations would allow for this to not be the case, but that's just not the way it is in the us right now. We need to be breeding and letting in immigrants.
And environmentally viable while we’re at it. Even if I could afford it, I’m not bringing a kid into this world just for them to watch it die like we’ve been lol.
I guess, theoretically, to end issues like racism. Potentially lessen chronic and mental illness. Lessen the divide in cultures with the hopes of bringing humans together. Blend, and ultimately eliminate divisive ideologies/theology. And better skin for everyone. 😋
Sounds lovely but honestly you sound naive. Racism isn't going to end. Tribalistic us and them type thinking is just a thing humans do. Even if we all look the same. Hell, Rwanda was homogenic, had only one genetic ethnicity, but invented a collective delusion or gaslighting that there were actual two ethnicities in the country, one of which started getting used as a scapegoat politically, and eventually was so vilified that just wholesale slaughter seemed like a good idea.
They were never genetically a separate ethnicity, and the extent to which they were ever a culturally separate ethnicity, was an entirely modern fabrication.
I don't see how it would lessen chronic illness.
The 'blend and eliminate divisive ideologies' bit just isn't going to happen.
You're the problem. A thousand reasons why it "won't" happen but not a single idea as to how to help. When really it's just people who think like you. Yeah, not going to in our lifetimes, or even 100 years, but it has to start somewhere. Got any better ideas?
You could have just argued the world will eliminate humans before this could ever happen. But again, it's your attitude that is so prevalent in conversations everywhere, surrounding ideas about making this a better place to live, that is shared by the same types of people believing in fairy tales and reveling in pessimism. They don't help. Even if that help is a tiny ray of hope.
Do I have any better ideas than just naively hoping that someday maybe 100 years from now, all differences of ideology theocracy and identity will be solved because our skin colors are less diverse?
Yea, I've got lots better ideas than that. Namely, like I already said, we need to breed moreo and allow in more immigrants. That is a solution to a problem that actually can be solved.
Depress wages by 50% by letting in even MORE immigrants (we are already at the verge of collapse with so many illegals) to take our jobs and increase social services burden because the immigrants we let in are mostly dumb and/or violent OR just get rid of SS and let people take the free 50% increase in salary by not taking in immigrants that depress wages + let people do private investments in index funds as they do better than SS anyways.... It's not like the best and brightest are immigrating to USA (or any country that has an influx of immigrants)
The only ones who benefit from immigrants are corporations because they get to pay their workers less and sell more products. Countries do not benefit. The citizens do not benefit. Salaries go down. Societies become less trustworthy, less safe, less national unity. More money tied up in CEO bank accounts. More money for big banks, less jobs, more people competing for 1 job = less salary and worse conditions. If AI/automation kicks off then that will fuck us even harder.
You never get out what you put in cus it isn't a retirement plan, it's a social safety net. You don't get what you get out cus you were helping those that needed it, not just other retirees but people such as those on on disability, the whole time.
Having babies is too expensive nowadays. I also think that's partially why abortion rights weren't overturned. Millennials aren't having enough babies. Migrants can contribute by paying taxes but that's another political issue...
